Highlights: The owner of the house, a high-tech person by profession, took on a role that was not at all taken for granted and supervised the construction process from A to Z. The building was designed in the shape of an R, like a kind of cube that was bitten into. The entrance to the house is made through a staircase of different sizes made of polished concrete and accompanied by dramatic ambient lighting. The cube construction is a product of concrete beams floating in the air that have a dual function: they create an open conceptual framework that defines the dining area and at the same time creates shade and cools the building.

This is a masterpiece that illustrates once again that sometimes LESS IS MORE. The owner of the house, a high-tech person by profession, took on a role that was not at all taken for granted and supervised the construction process from A to Z

The power of simplicity: Welcome to the home of a couple in their 40s who have four teenage children.

Several years ago, the two decided to purchase a plot of land and build their dream house on it.

The selected plot, with an area of about 800 square meters, was divided into two: a 300 square meter plot on which the house was built and another plot, with an area of about half a dunam, intended for rent and facing the green fields of the outskirts of the city.

"The couple, who until then lived in a contractor's house, had a dream - to create for their family a modern and innovative living environment that moves with the times and at the same time creates a feeling of homely warmth", according to the architect Ron Spiegel, who is in charge of planning the project.

"The building was designed in the shape of an R, like a kind of cube that was bitten into. In the center is an impressive key facing the tended garden."

According to Spiegel, in an unusual move by the homeowner, a high-tech man, a true pedant, he took on a role that many homeowners would have avoided like fire and supervised the construction process from start to finish: "He took on enormous responsibility, learned from scratch the ins and outs of supervision and despite Lacking previous experience, he delved deeper, went down to the subtleties and reached a level of products that even the best supervisors can only aspire to. He 'killed himself on the project' and completely succeeded in it."

The two approached Spiegel's office after being impressed by a number of houses he designed in the city.

The modern urban architecture, the application of natural materials alongside industrial ones and the attention to detail captured their hearts and these layers, along with others, are what also characterize their new home.

"This is a house that contains a lot of details," explains Spiegel.

"It has a reduction in resolutions and every element in it has been carefully integrated, from the exposed concrete to the impressive staircase. The architectural concept begins already outside. The entrance to the house is made through a staircase of different sizes made of polished concrete and accompanied by dramatic ambient lighting. The front door is a feature in itself: It is very tall, clad in wood-like aluminum, emphasizing the vertical lines and giving a sense of height. The cube construction is a product of concrete beams floating in the air that have a dual function: they create an open conceptual framework that defines the dining area and at the same time creates shade and cools the building. The black windows They frame the view revealed from the outside just like a living and dynamic picture."

The public space was designed as an open and airy OPEN SPACE and yet, thanks to the correct balance between masses, volumes, materiality and color, the feeling in it is enveloping and homey.

On one side of the floor is the living room and on the other side is the kitchen.

The dining area, located next to the staircase, sits under a double space that floods the entire house with an abundance of natural light.

"We used a palette of shades and natural materials on the purity of gray, black and wood," explains Spiegel.

"On the outer shell, the play is between exposed concrete, black aluminum and wood-like aluminum which is reflected in the front door and in the back of the building. The color palette flows into the house, there too there is a dynamic between the shades such as the staircase railing made of dark iron next to wooden furniture details."

And since we are talking about the stairs, this is undoubtedly one of the most important elements in this house.

"These are wooden stairs that float in the double space," explains the architect.

"They can be seen from anywhere in the house thanks to the open upper corridor that overlooks the entrance hall and is an important and central axis in the house. In order to enhance the height dimension, we planted a monumental floating light fixture in the heart of the double space in a cube pattern. This is how we created a design sculpture that anchors the area and emphasizes it. The cube pattern creates a frantic look and dynamic that corresponds with the unique character of the entire house.

The contrast of materials also continues in the kitchen where Spiegel created a black carpentry facade that connects to the wall facing the yard.

One of its doors is a hidden door that leads to the pantry with another entrance directly from the parking lot.

The covering of the unit is made of Formica with a grayish stone texture.

Next to it are elements of Zebrano wood, such as the front of the work surface and the facades of the island covered with a dark and dramatic stone surface.

The living room has two fronts - one is covered with concrete and the other is a showcase facing the courtyard.

In the center of the built wall is an electric fireplace that adds a dimension of comfort and warmth to the space.

Contrary to what is customary, the furniture does not rest on the sides of the space but is placed in its center, thus creating an enveloping and homely feeling.

Above hover diagonal lighting strips whose function is to conceptually "break" the straight lines in the space.

The master suite is also located on the entrance floor and has an intimate courtyard separated from the central courtyard.

Its floor is covered with parquet boards and it has a walk-in closet.

This is a creative solution that Spiegel created since the couple get up at different times and thus do not disturb each other.

Spacious suites with a private bathroom in each await the couple's teenage children on the living floor.

The house and the yard were designed as one piece.

It is evident that the treated gardens are an integral part of the interior of the house and vice versa.

In the outdoor environment, an infinity pool decorated with vegetation at the edge awaits the members of the family and their guests.

On its side, one hugs the house and the other serves as a sort of elegant mosaic-tiled stage.
