The fact that the carnival was ten days shorter than last year did not dampen the good mood.

On the contrary: the organizers rave about the well-attended balls and the great atmosphere.

It can carry on like this.

However, without Pia Serve as Würmesia President.

First of all, she sets other priorities.

Würmtal

– Whether new to the profession or old hands: the Würmtal carnival organizers agree that the season, which ended with the sweepstakes on Tuesday, went extremely well.

“We found it very positive that so many visitors came despite the early carnival, especially for the women’s carnival,” says Tanja Appelmann, for example.

Together with Julia Frank and Verena Dworznik, Appelmann was responsible for the carnival at the Lochhamer Laien-Bauern-Bühne (LLBB) for the first time.

“Thank God we had the help of the entire previous team,” says Appelmann.

As reported, Gisela Fuchs, Gerhard Fuchs, Stefan Gruber, Alex Mory-Köhler and Christian Köhler withdrew from the organization last year, but were available to provide advice and support.

“You have to think about an incredible amount,” says Appelmann.

For example, the tickets: The carnival ball in the “Lochhamer Zauberwald” took place on the last Friday in January.

“We didn’t have any tickets until the Tuesday before the ball,” says Appelmann.

A club member took over the pressure and the tickets were available in time on Friday morning.

170 visitors came to the ball, 190 to the women's carnival, and the children's ball was also well attended.

The LLBB team wants to continue

Appelmann and her colleagues are ready to take care of the LLBB carnival again next year.

However, that is a decision by the club management, which will probably be made as soon as the accounting has been completed.

The Appollos and Let's Dance, the bands for the ball and women's carnival, are already booked again.

Because after carnival is before carnival.

Appelmann learned that.

She is now going on vacation for a few days in the Zillertal.

“I’m going to spend the time with my dog, I neglected him during carnival.”

Pia Serve, the president of the Würmesia carnival society, can now devote more attention to her family again.

The son has just turned one and a half years old.

She says: “It was a very, very successful carnival.” Last year, in the first carnival after Corona, things went well.

“We didn’t think we could go one better.” But back then there was still “the test issue” when performing in old people’s homes.

Serve: “This year it was a different situation and the atmosphere was even more liberated.” The events, enthronement, children's balls and sweepstakes, were very well attended, as were the public appearances.

The development of the Würmesia team seems to be almost even more important to her: “We have grown as a team.” The 70 active members were also joined by “moms and dads,” so that 80 to 90 people got involved.

“I think it’s great how many people felt like they belonged and pitched in.”

After “Würmesia is colorful” last year, the motto this time was “Würmesia’s winter wonderland”.

The costumes were white and ice blue.

“Our seamstress Gaby Spannbauer has really let off steam,” says Serve.

“The people were starving,” says Matthias Niedermair, organizer of the Würmtal carnival parade.

Serve is confident that Würmesia will continue to thrive.

“As things stand at the moment, we will grow.

There are some requests for the youth guard.” It currently has 20 children and young people.

Serve also hopes that a few more dancers will join the court ballet.

The 25-year-old has been president for four years, but has been associated with the club since she was a child.

When new elections take place in May, she will no longer run.

“The decision was not easy for me,” says Serve.

But she and her husband want a second child, which no longer leaves her with enough capacity to be at the top of the carnival society.

“It was challenging with the little one,” says Serve.

“The priority now is on the family.” The successor is “99 percent” certain.

She herself will remain loyal to the club and is prepared to take on another position on the executive board.

She made one of her last appearances as Würmesia President last Sunday at the Würmtal carnival parade, the first since 2020. It attracted 10,000 spectators despite the cold, wet weather.

Organizer Matthias Niedermair says: “After a four-year break, people were starving.” The 38 groups put a lot of effort into designing their floats.

“They were well built.” And the weather also cooperated: “Towards Planegg the drizzling stopped.” Niedermair has been putting on the carnival procession every two years since 1989.

It was only canceled in 1991 because of the Iraq War and in 2022 because of the corona pandemic.

“It was very nice,” says Niedermair about Sunday.

He is unhappy about the police report that there was serious bodily harm during the carnival parade.

An 18-year-old was hit in the head by two unknown perpetrators after an argument on Planegger Bahnhofstrasse on Sunday around 5 p.m. and had to be taken to hospital.

Niedermair corrects: “At 5 p.m. the carnival procession was long over.”
