2024-02-15T15:21:44.951Z

Highlights: TikTok is testing exclusive “Sub Space” for more intensive interaction. This space is intended to give LIVE creators the opportunity to communicate with their subscribers on a more intimate level. The launch of this feature comes at a time when TikTok is looking to expand its LIVE offerings and potentially compete with Twitch, particularly in the gaming creative space. TikTok previously launched a pilot program that allows access to the LIVE Studio desktop streaming software to gamers with fewer than 1,000 followers. This could be a strategy to attract live streamers from platforms like Twitch and YouTube to TikTok.

TikTok unveils “Sub Space,” an exclusive platform that allows LIVE creators to interact directly with their subscribers.

TikTok is about to usher in a new era of interaction between content creators and their communities.

The company confirmed to

TechCrunch

that it is currently testing an exclusive area called “Sub Space.”

This space is intended to give LIVE creators the opportunity to communicate with their subscribers on a more intimate level.

“Sub Space” is still in its early stages, but aims to encourage community engagement and provide additional incentive for subscribers.

The company recently announced that it had increased user behavior on TikTok.

Innovative interactions in focus

The new feature was discovered by Jonah Manzano, an observant TikTok user who shared screenshots of the feature.

In this exclusive space, creators can create threads on various topics and conduct polls to discuss and interact with their subscribers.

Although influencers can already communicate with viewers via chats during live streams, the new offer offers a platform for direct conversations with paying subscribers.

From topic threads to personal insights

The screenshots show how creators can start conversation threads with their subscribers.

You have the option to create a thread based on a suggested topic or contribute your own ideas.

For example, they can ask their subscribers to introduce themselves, ask questions, or share their first impressions - all in different threads.

“Sub Space” can also be used for creators to share snippets and updates from their lives with subscribers, similar to broadcast channels on Instagram.

A dedicated thread can include the creators' LIVE schedule to keep subscribers updated on upcoming streams.

Additionally, the survey option offers the opportunity to gather opinions from subscribers, such as what type of streams they would prefer or what time the majority are available for an upcoming stream.

New ways to retain subscribers

TikTok has already offered subscribers exclusive benefits such as videos or streams, but “Sub Space” opens up a new direct way of interaction.

This could encourage creators to gain more subscribers by offering paying users access to exclusive content and interactions.

The launch of this feature comes at a time when TikTok is looking to expand its LIVE offerings and potentially compete with Twitch, particularly in the gaming creative space - Twitch recently laid off 35% of its employees.

TikTok previously launched a pilot program that allows access to the LIVE Studio desktop streaming software to gamers with fewer than 1,000 followers, as long as they have a stable livestreaming history on another platform such as Twitch.

This could be a strategy to attract live streamers from platforms like Twitch and YouTube to TikTok.

With just a few settings, TikToks can also be watched on the television.
