Two flexible homes are to be built in Trudering to provide temporary accommodation for homeless people.

Although the city council decided on the locations in October, the neighbors have only now found out and are not very enthusiastic - also because the city is overriding the development plan.

Perplexed, disillusioned and angry - this is how the mood of the approximately 30 Truderinger citizens present can be summed up after the special meeting of the Trudering-Riem district committee (BA) on the planned construction of two flexi homes on Heinrich-Wieland-Straße and Lehrer-Götz-Weg.

People who are having a hard time on the housing market or are currently considered unfit to rent for various reasons will live in the houses for a certain period of time.

District committee welcomes plans

At the end of a two-hour, very civilized discussion, the committee advocated “good architecture, attractive open space design and a mobility concept” for the planned home at Heinrich-Wieland-Straße 99-101, a former illegal car sales place.

But it also unanimously approved an exemption for the height.

Much to the annoyance of the residents, who had emphatically pointed out the current development plan, which actually only allows houses with two floors and a gable roof.

However, the home planned by an investor with 39 family-friendly residential units is to have four floors, the top floor as a set-back terrace floor.

The SPD could have imagined even more space.

“It doesn’t fit into the regional structure,” criticize the residents.

This means that the residential development behind it will be massively shaded.

The distance areas would be maintained, “so there is no fear of shading,” contradicted BA boss Stefan Ziegler (CSU).

The local building commission has announced that it will grant an exemption.

Despite being invited, their representatives were not present.

A home for families, one for individuals and couples

Three employees from the social department took over the information about the Flexiheim projects.

Accordingly, only families who have become homeless should be accommodated on Heinrich-Wieland-Straße.

“That doesn’t mean that everyone isn’t able to rent,” explained Gerhard Mayer, head of the Office for Housing and Migration.

Larger families would simply have problems on the Munich housing market.

“We don't occupy a house entirely with highly burdened families.” However, on Lehrer-Götz-Weg, where around 114 places are planned, individuals and couples who are unable to rent due to debts, hoarder problems or illiteracy, for example, should move in.

“Other people in Munich also have similar problems,” said Mayer.

Addicts and prisoners are also listed in the official documents, a citizen objected.

“As a neighbor you have your problems.” That's why with this flexi home variant, social care and security are on site around the clock, explained Mayer.

According to the experiences of the existing nine flexi homes in Munich, a lot of it is intercepted and there are no incidents.

“Serious drug addicts and sex offenders are not admitted at all; these are not branches of Stadelheim or addiction centers.”

Residents are filing lawsuits

In contrast to Heinrich-Wieland-Straße, the private investor has not yet submitted a building application here, so an objection to the building project is not yet possible.

When it came to the building permit on Heinrich-Wieland-Straße, residents had already announced lawsuits.
