Marijke Amado has found a special way to deal with disappointments.
39 pigs play an important role.
Cologne – Marijke Amado (70) has been one of the most famous faces on TV for decades.
While she normally takes the reins as a presenter, she answers the questions of her colleague Annika Lau (44) in the RTL magazine “Gala”.
Among other things, the two of them talked about the fact that Amado has 39 pigs in his garden.
What's it all about?
For therapy purposes: Marijke Amado has 39 pigs in her garden
The presenter, who became an integral part of German TV screens in the 1990s with the “Mini Playback Show,” like most people, didn’t always have it easy.
“Of course you have now found a very special therapy for how you deal with the topic of 'letting go',” said Lau.
She was referring to 39 pigs in Amado's garden.
But these are not real animals; 39 pig figures decorate their garden.
Annika Lau wants to know: “Why are they standing there, Marijke?”
Amado dealt with the topic openly on the show.
“So this is my own therapy,” she said.
The characters therefore “represent every big disappointment – it can be private, it can also be business.”
She can’t “go to the psychologist’s couch every time.”
Instead, she buys such pigs, puts them in the garden and gives the figures names.
The real names of the people who disappointed them are written on the underside of each pig.
But she didn't want to reveal what they were.
This should only come out “when I am no longer in this world”.
Marijke Amado’s pigs “work wonderfully”
“For every human... male disappointment, I bought myself a concrete pig,” Amado had already made public in her 2019 book “Women in the Media: Always Stay Calm.”
“This is the best psychological tip I can give to humanity.
You walk through the garden three times, scream loudly once and everything is fine again.
But I don't hope that there will be many more pigs.
[...] For me it is best to heal myself.
And so I came up with the pig thing and it works wonderfully,” she added.
In fact, at least now, it's not just men whose names are noted on a pig's underside in Amado's garden.
“There are two women in the garden,” she now explains.
In order to land on one of the characters by name, a little gossiping isn't enough; it's about "really deep, emotional disappointments that you've experienced with people."
“Something must have really happened,” which takes about a year and a half to process.
When an incident like this occurs, she says: “That’s Mr. Schnickebimmel.
“You’re now in the corner where my dog farts.”
