What began as a video greeting request will become a lightning trip that takes Corrientes by surprise.
Javier Milei will move to that province next Monday
to participate in the 10th anniversary of a libertarian club.
In the midst of Casa Rosada's dispute with the governors over the removal of transportation subsidies and doubts about the continuity of trust funds, the President could set foot in the province and leave
without even having a formal meeting with Governor Gustavo Valdés.
The trip was first confirmed by the director of the Freedom Club, Ricardo Leconte, in statements to radio
El Litoral
.
For their part, presidential spokespersons confirmed to
Clarín
the visit to the coastal province next week.
Meanwhile,
in some government offices in the province they learned from the media that Milei is preparing a trip to the provincial capital.
The reason for the president's presence in Corrientes is the first decade of life of the Freedom Club.
On its page, it is defined as "a social organization in freedom on the basis of individual responsibility."
In radio statements, Leconte specified that the entity is "a foundation that has been in charge in the last ten years of disseminating liberal ideas of freedom, with
Javier Milei as one of the collaborators
."
Leconte also told how Milei's visit came about, which, if it took place – there can always be changes in the agendas – it would not be an official trip.
"We invited him a month or so ago for her to participate through a video of the club's anniversary and he said,
'it's turning ten years old, I'm going,'
" said the director.
President Javier Milei will travel to Corrientes next Monday.
The leader of La Libertad Avanza is not officially part of the club's organizational chart.
Among his many advisors, however, there are other figures close to the President: Alberto Benegas Lynch (h), Martín Krause (Milei's educational reference and almost Secretary of Education) and the young writer Agustín Laje.
Also on the list of directors are the economist - today distanced from Milei - Roberto Cachanosky and the deputy Ricardo López Murphy.
The confirmation came to them through the General Secretary of the Presidency, Karina Milei.
"Javier is a friend of his friends, he keeps his word, despite all the commitments he has
," said the president of the Freedom Club.
Among those commitments is another trip, one that will take him to the United States for a meeting of right-wing world leaders.
The Corrientes government indicated to

that as of Thursday night
no meeting had been scheduled between Valdés and Milei
, but they do not rule out carrying out efforts during the weekend to make it happen.
Nor was the presence of the governor or the vice-governor, Pedro Braillard Poccarde, guaranteed at the anniversary of the Liberty Club, where there could be at least one formal photo.

Milei would arrive in Corrientes capital in the late afternoon.
The organizers of the Freedom Club anniversary had planned to hold the event in the conference room of the Tourism hotel, in front of the Corrientes waterfront, but
Milei's visit could change the plans due to the level of attendance they estimate
.
They are now considering asking the authorities for permission to use the capital's Convention Center.
The President will be the closing speaker of the event, which will also feature a talk via Zoom by
Alberto Benegas Lynch (h),
the greatest exponent of liberal ideas according to Milei and a member of the Academic Council of the foundation.
The President's visit to Corrientes would last just a few hours since the President must return to Buenos Aires to travel to Washington, United States.
There he will participate in the Conservative Political Action Conference, the annual meeting that brings together leaders of the right of that country, and which will be held between February 21 and 24 with Donald Trump confirmed to be present.
