– Since 2021, the story of “LOL: who laughs comes out!”

» is particularly beautiful…

Philippe LACHEAU.

It’s incredible and completely unexpected.

I was not expecting that at all.

When I was contacted at the time, I thought it was going to be a little project between friends to have fun between us on Prime Video and that it was going to reach a niche audience.

I didn't think the platform would communicate so much about the program and that people would embrace it so strongly.

Each season became Prime Video's biggest hit upon release.

Now, in the street, people call me out as much for talking about “LOL” as for my films.

And it's cool, it's sunny, it's a program that does good for people.

Do you remember the day when Prime Video came to ask you to take the reins of “LOL: who laughs comes out!”

» ?

I remember it very clearly.

I never go on Facebook and found myself checking my private messages by accident.

I came across that of Julien Aubour with whom I had worked on Fun TV in the early 2000s and he explained to me that he was working at Endemol for a project on Prime Video.

Everything I had been able to do until now on television was with the aim of making films.

And now that I'm doing it, I don't necessarily want to come back to television.

He made me watch the Australian version of “LOL” and I saw a simple and effective concept.

The filming time wasn't restrictive and I was able to bring my friends along so we set out to have a laugh among ourselves.

The first season brought together members of the Fifi gang in particular...

And Gérard Jugnot also with whom I had already toured.

We were lucky to have fully committed artists who really let loose and had a blast.

The first season, we had no idea where we were going.

For actors, filming for ten hours while feeling bored when in reality they're really funny, it's hard.

This raises the question of the effectiveness of his humor and the rendering in the show.

The caring and effective editing of the program convinced everyone and convinced other comedians to come in subsequent seasons.

“I cried with laughter during the recording, I had tears streaming”

Philippe Lacheau

How do you prepare for a season of “LOL: who laughs comes out!”

» ?

I am lucky to be very well surrounded by great authors.

The first season required a lot of exchange of ideas during pre-filming meetings.

Now that the machine is launched and well oiled, I have less need to prepare, the automation is there.

What do you think of the casting of this fourth round of the show a year

after the “all stars” of season 3

?

This obviously puts pressure on everyone else to come after them.

But the spectators really won't be disappointed because they all do extremely well.

What's great about this new season is that there's a real mix of humor styles.

There is the finesse of Jérôme Commandeur and Marina Foïs.

The more inward side of Redouane Bougheraba, Jean-Pascal Zadi and Alban Ivanov.

We have the more quirky side of McFly and Carlito.

I cried with laughter during the recording, I had tears streaming down.

Would you ever see yourself participating as a candidate?

I don't think so, especially having experienced this role of referee.

I have the best role in the game!

I witness everything and I have the right to laugh.

I'm too good of a crowd and I wouldn't even want to win.

I'm always excited before a shoot because I'm going to see a real show with all this talent together.

I'm with my popcorn and I'm enjoying it.

What did you think of the special Halloween concept where screaming and laughing were prohibited?

I thought it was great and “LOL: whoever screams comes out!”

» even became the third biggest success on the Prime Video platform.

It was a clever way to renew the game a little with something very interesting.

We had the chance to find Rolls-Royces like Gérard Darmon so it was incredible.
