The news that up to five wind turbines are to be built around Fürstenfeldbruck has not only alarmed residents from Aich and Puch.

Things are also seething in the neighboring community of Landsberied.

Landsberied/Fürstenfeldbruck - In an open letter to the municipal utilities and the city of Fürstenfeldbruck, Landsberied's mayor Andrea Schweitzer (FW Einigkeit) criticizes the meager flow of information to her community so far.

In August 2023, she only found out that there were plans for up to three wind turbines in the Rothschwaiger Forest through the citizen energy cooperative Sonnensegler.

When she asked the municipal utilities, she only received vague answers and was referred to the most recent city council meeting in Fürstenfeldbruck.

What she heard there motivated Schweitzer to write the open letter.

Distance to the outskirts of town

In it, the mayor formulates two points of criticism.

Firstly, the lack of information and secondly, the distance between the planned wind turbines and the edge of the Landsberied village in the east - unlike the town of Fürstenfeldbruck itself. While there would be 1,500 meters between the town and the wind turbines, there would only be 900 meters between Aich and Landsberied.

“I cannot understand or accept this unequal treatment,” writes Schweitzer.

“The 1500 meters should also apply to the neighbors.”

However, a corresponding shift of the wind turbines away from Landsberied would have a serious impact on the plans, explains Stadtwerke managing director Jan Hoppenstedt.

Because this would bring the three wind turbines closer together, they would cannibalize each other.

In practical terms, according to Hoppenstedt, that would mean: “Then we can only do one thing.” But he emphasizes: “We need certain quantities, otherwise we won’t achieve the goals of the energy transition.” However, the decision on this would be up to the city council as part of the building management process.

The municipality of Landsberied can also comment on this.

The legal framework

He promises the residents that the wind turbines will not restrict village development.

The legal framework allows the wind turbines to be moved up to 650 meters.

The municipal utilities managing director warns: “We already have so many legal restrictions.

We shouldn’t restrict ourselves any more.”

What will be intensified in the coming weeks and months is communication with residents and the community.

“It is important to take the citizen with you,” emphasizes Hoppenstedt.

On the one hand, he wants to come to the local council himself in March to present the plans.

On the other hand, there will be an information evening next week and possibly a citizens' meeting after the visit to the local council.
