A Red Crescent operator recounts the telephone exchange she had with the six-year-old girl shortly before her death.

The heartbreaking sequence went around the world.

At the beginning of February, a car carrying Hind Rajab, a 6-year-old Palestinian girl, found itself in the middle of an Israeli operation and was reportedly hit by tank fire.

The only survivor, the little girl called the Red Crescent for help on the telephone and the communication was recorded and broadcast on social networks.

His remains were finally found on February 10.

Rana, the operator of the humanitarian organization who spoke with the little girl, reported her last words to franceinfo.

“Imagine the scene, a little girl in a car full of corpses

,” she laments to our colleagues from Ramallah, in the West Bank.

“Sometimes she would say to me: 'They are all sleeping.'

At other times: 'They are all dead, there is blood everywhere, there are shots'

.

“I'm afraid of the dark”

The macabre exchange lasted three hours.

“Even an adult could not cope with such a situation.

Put yourself in Hind’s shoes

,” says Rana.

As night falls, the little girl's cries for help become more urgent.

“Her voice was full of sadness and distress

,” remembers the Red Crescent operator.

“She told me, ‘I’m afraid of the dark,’ and asked me to promise that I would get her out of there

. ”

“How soon will you be there?”

Hind asks.

Rana replies

“one hour”

.

Finally, an hour and a half passed and the Red Crescent had still not sent anyone.

The little girl then insisted:

The operator tries to make Hind understand that it takes time to organize coordination with Israel.

But the little girl asks what the term

“coordination”

means .

At 6 p.m., contact is lost, and Rana will never be heard from again.

“I have been working in rescue and first aid for 13 years, I have never been so touched

,” she confides.

In addition to the girl and her family, two paramedics from the organization died during the rescue operation.

Since then, the rest of Hind's family has accused the Israeli army of murdering her.

investigate the

“heartbreaking”

death of the little girl.
