Moscow – On February 16, the surprising news came that Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny had died in a prison camp in Siberia.

The world mourns the loss of the Russian opposition leader who dedicated his life to fighting Vladimir Putin and for greater righteousness in his homeland.

Navalny has long been on Kremlin ruler Vladimir Putin's list of enemies.

He is known worldwide, not least since the poison attack on the opposition activist, for which he spent a long time in Berlin being treated.

The cause of death was initially not officially known.

Russian media said a blood clot could be the trigger.

Navalny leaves behind two children and his wife Yulia Navalnaya - and the question arises as to whether she could even follow in his footsteps in politics.

When the news broke, Navalnaya was at the Munich Security Conference.

Navalny's wife spoke on site and announced that she would hold Putin accountable in the event of her husband's death.
