Landsberg citizens want to defend themselves against the motorized Monday evening demonstrations with a “noise and traffic nuisance complaint”.

Landsberg - After the last Monday demonstration, residents of Landsberg's old town and also citizens outside the old town want to defend themselves against the demonstrations with cars, tractors and trucks through the city center.

There will be a citizens' forum on Monday evening, where a signature campaign will also be started.

At the meeting on Monday, February 19th at 6:30 p.m. in Cap Sounio with an open microphone, “everyone should be able to let off steam” and report how they “feel about the demonstration,” said one of the initiators.

She has neighbors with small children, so the noise is extremely disturbing and even frightening.

But the noise is also “very stressful” and “harmful to health” for adults and animals.

A majority of the shops had already closed at 6 p.m., but the event was damaging business for the restaurants.

The demonstrations were “aggressive” and “intentionally provocative”.

That's why they want to file a "noise and traffic nuisance complaint" as a "petition against the complete use of vehicles." The entire demo can be seen on a YouTube channel - and also that the old town was almost deserted during the demo, apart from the demonstrators is.

Noise pollution is “very stressful” and “harmful to health” for children, adults and animals.

The initiators invited people to the meeting using an information sheet that they posted in the mailboxes of neighboring households and businesses.

It says that next Monday the demonstration is not planned to go through the city center, but along Neue Bergstrasse to the Waldorf School and back - the initiators suspect that this street would have to be completely closed for this reason.

Mayor Baumgartl and District Administrator Thomas Eichinger have also been contacted.

Both should be there on Monday evening to watch the demo.

Third mayor Felix Bredschneijder, who “will of course come to the citizens’ forum on Monday evening,” issued a statement from the city on behalf of mayor Doris Baumgartl:

The city does not comment on the content of registered demonstrations as long as they take place on the basis of the Basic Law and are therefore protected by it.

Whether I share the opinions expressed at a demonstration will never be the basis for restrictions or restrictions.

If residents and businesses have legitimate interests, the city sees itself as having an obligation to point out these interests to the district office as the sole deciding authority.

The contact between the city and the district works very well.

Restrictions “for demonstration purposes” are not legally possible

Tractors are currently allowed to pass through the old town.

“This is also important to us for the few agricultural businesses that are still active in the city,” says Bredschneijder.

However, increased heavy goods traffic could be “an enormous burden” on the buildings, some of which are old.

We are monitoring this closely and asking residents to report any damage.

If it turns out that any damage is due to the sudden heavy load on the assemblies, it may be necessary to suggest to the city council that tractors should generally no longer be allowed to pass through,” Bredschneijder points out.

“Unfortunately, this is only possible in general; a restriction 'for demonstration purposes' is not legally possible.

In this sense, we hope that the heavy vehicles taking part in the trips will show solidarity towards the Landsberg farmers.”

According to the district office, the meetings are covered by the right of assembly.

So far, no specific route has been registered with the district office for the upcoming demonstration on Monday evening.

However, it can be read that Rolf Kron has registered a demonstration for every Monday until April 22nd at 6 p.m. under the motto “Peace, freedom, democracy and self-determination”.

You start at the main square, it is a “moving gathering”.

Karen Bauer has also registered Monday evening demonstrations at 6 p.m. under the motto “Peace, Freedom and Democracy”.

These are registered until July 8th.
