However, it would have increased by 0.6 points during the fourth quarter of 2023, and by 3.5% over one year, according to figures published Friday by INSEE.
A figure down sharply compared to 2022, during which labor costs increased by 4.8%, but very high compared to the long-term average - around 1 point before the Covid crisis.
“This is a normal fluctuation during periods of inflation
,” explains Éric Heyer, director of the analysis and forecasting department of the OFCE.
It is unlikely, therefore, that these figures will resurface debates on the issue of labor costs in France, one of the employers' hobbyhorses a few years ago.
