Vincent Bassery and Manuel Rucar are bitter.
On January 31, the couple learned that they were not being reappointed at the head of the Kerver municipal campsite in Saint-Gildas-de-Rhuys (Morbihan).
“I have been a camper since I was born on this campsite, manager for 15 years with my family and today I have been kicked out without care and without consideration,” laments Vincent.
He does not understand why the elected officials preferred to retain the project of another couple during a new call for tenders, despite the increasing attendance at the campsite, a customer satisfaction rate of 96% and the procedures ecological solutions praised in the media.
It is now necessary to “manage the campsite as a good family man”
“During a meeting, we were criticized for favoring a community clientele who did not fit into the family values of the place because the mention of the campsite appeared on three LGBTQ + friendly pages on the web,” explains Vincent.
They would have been asked to implement all necessary means to remove this display.
“This notorious discrimination against a type of clientele is completely inconceivable,” protests the homosexual couple, supported by a petition from clients.
He is also surprised by the new obligations contained in the last agreement, namely “managing the campsite as a good family man (…) and not undertaking anything that would harm its image as a family campsite”.
Despite the controversy, the change in management was voted on this Thursday evening by the municipal council.
“No one in the municipality has ever made the slightest inappropriate or discriminatory statement against the two managers or against the LGBTQ + community which is welcome in Saint-Gildas-de-Rhuys”, justifies the municipality.
The mayor, Alain Ayec, does not rule out filing a complaint for defamation.
