In the difficult away game at RC Lens, SC Freiburg has created a respectable starting position for its targeted place in the round of 16 in the Europa League.
The Breisgauer team fought to a respectable 0-0 draw in the first leg of the second round against the French first division football team on Thursday and have a good chance of progressing in the second leg in a week's time in front of their home crowd.
Lens - Both teams played a good game at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis, but did not take advantage of their chances to score.
The supposed opening goal for the hosts by Massadio Haidara (70th minute) was withdrawn due to a previous offside position according to video evidence.
Lens can start in the knockout phase of the Europa League as third in their Champions League group.
