They would have set up a system to speed up the issuing of passports by the Police Headquarters and make money from it.

With these accusations, the precautionary measures of the ban on business activity and the ban from public offices were triggered against an agent of the Reggio Emilia Police Headquarters and her husband.

At the same time, 16,300 euros attributable to a company were seized, which according to reconstructions would be the profit of the crime.

The agent, now suspended, held the role of technician in the Pasi (Administrative, Social and Immigration Police).

The husband owns a practice agency.

The investigations were triggered by a report from the passport office operators and made it possible to document, according to the prosecution, during the preliminary investigations, that the recipients of the precautionary measure had organised, in collaboration with three other subjects, a fraudulent mechanism which allowed the calendar of summons to the Police Headquarters for the issuing of a passport to be manipulated.

The agency subjected to seizure was thus able to assure its customers the certainty of very rapid summons for the issuing of a passport.

During the investigations, 163 summonses were highlighted which had arisen from the fraudulent mechanism.

"The passport office of the Reggio Emilia Police Headquarters issued 30,000 passports during 2023 and has always guaranteed all those who have expressed an urgent need to obtain, regardless of the original date of summons issued by the online diary, the timely release of the document", the Police Headquarters said.
