The kids in the relatively new complex with 18 social housing units and the three aging community blocks with 36 residential units on Neudießener-/Von-Eichendorff-Straße are stepchildren when it comes to a place to play.

The former spacious playground had to make way for the new facility.

Some of the devices were set up in other places, only a small remainder stands shabbily on the western edge of the property of the 'Twelve Blocks'.

Clearly not enough for the children of the 54 apartments in the immediate vicinity alone.

Dießen - That could change soon.

Here the market town is not only planning a new playground, but also the first purely inclusive playground in the region.

It will enable children with and without disabilities to engage in physical, social-emotional and cognitive-creative activities on play equipment that is easily accessible to all.

The local council had already voted unanimously in favor of it in mid-2023 and approved the costs of around 260,000 euros.

Since the EU funding program LEADER prefers to support such projects, Mayor Sandra Perzul submitted a grant application for 130,000 euros through the LAG Ammersee local working group.

“Now it’s time to keep our fingers crossed,” she says.

“On February 21st, we will vote together with applications from other municipalities at the Utting Citizens’ Meeting.

The meeting of the LAG decision-making body begins at 7 p.m. and is open to the public.”

Well planned

To ensure that the matter was well-founded, the architectural office of Dipl.-Ing. was involved in the planning.

Monika fahrer from Herrsching was involved.

The multi-generational playground in Utting, which is considered a flagship project, also comes from her.

According to their concept for Dießen, kids and young people aged two to 16 can try out devices of various levels of difficulty, “because playing should also be a challenge,” says fahrer.

Whether on a climbing facility with a tower and slide, on swings, climbing nets, rotating and dynamic equipment, a balance course, a playhouse and of course a sandpit.

To this end, the playground planner asked local children and young people about their needs.

The youth advisory board and the community's youth representative were also involved.

Everyone agreed that play equipment with a combination of wood and metal should be preferred because it is more durable.

Local councilor Franz Sanktjohanser's suggestion to include a cable car or a tube slide was rejected due to space problems and considerable additional costs.
