Munich – The police in Upper Palatinate and Lower Bavaria are currently investigating suspected racist incidents that are said to have occurred at carnival celebrations.

According to a police statement dated Friday, February 16th, “xenophobic” statements were said to have been made during a children’s carnival in a discotheque in Geiersthal (Regen district) on Sunday, February 11th.
No suspects have been identified so far and investigations are underway on initial suspicion of a crime.

In Lower Bavaria, a possible racist incident during a carnival parade also led to police investigations.
At the event in Stulln (Schwandorf district) on Sunday, a group of spectators were said to have shouted "Foreigners out" as the song "L'Amour toujours" by Gigi D'Agostino was played from a car, a witness reported to local media.
Although no report has been received about the incident, police and public prosecutors have launched an investigation based on the reports.
