A 29-year-old man spontaneously presented himself this afternoon with his lawyers to the police in Molfetta (Bari) confessing to having stabbed a 23-year-old to death after an argument.
The 29-year-old, who committed the crime yesterday afternoon in his home, was arrested.
The victim is Dario De Gennaro, 23 years old, resident in Molfetta: he was found in the home of the alleged murderer still lying on the floor.
It is unclear what triggered the violent argument that resulted in the murder.
According to what has been reconstructed so far from the investigations coordinated by the Trani Prosecutor's Office, the 23-year-old had been missing for more than 24 hours and his family had reported his disappearance, starting the search.
The alleged perpetrator of the crime reportedly told the police that he had argued with the victim in his home in Via Immacolata, not far from the city centre.
The argument took on increasingly heated tones until the 29-year-old hit De Gennaro several times with a knife and then left.
The Trani Prosecutor's Office has ordered an autopsy on De Gennaro's body.
"This increased aggression is worrying and we must all make sure not to convey negative models of violence but of understanding and respect for the person", comments the mayor of Molfetta, Tommaso Minervini who "with apprehension" followed the story relating to the disappearance of the young woman victim.
"We have collaborated with the police and the judicial authorities, hoping for a different end - he adds - We are close to the family members".
