Marie Reim is taking part in the ESC preliminary round with her hit song “Naiv”.

But the night before, dark clouds suddenly appeared over their performance.

Berlin – Will Germany enter the race with a hit song at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 in Malmö?

That will be decided on Friday evening (February 16th) from 10:05 p.m. at the show “Eurovision Song Contest – The German Final 2024”.

Nine acts are there and are applying for the ticket - including Marie Reim (23), who is eighth in the starting order at the ESC preliminary round with her song "Naiv".

But the night before, dark clouds suddenly appeared over their performance.

Bitter self-doubt gnaws at the pop singer!

Which she announces publicly.

Marie Reim before the ESC preliminary decision: Schlager star expresses blatant self-doubt

Late at night she spoke up via Instagram story.

It wants to get out of her.

“My honest thoughts, wishes, worries and doubts,” she writes.

“I’m scared,” she admits.

“Honestly, no show right now.

I'm scared.

I really, really respect tomorrow.

It's not that much of an excitement, it's just such a... wow, the others are so good, I was able to see all of that today at rehearsals.”

Marie Reim can actually look forward to broad support from the Schlager world.

But she seems to be very unsure whether it is even enough, whether she is good enough to survive against the competition.

“I kind of feel like I’m not winning.

So honestly, these are my 100 percent honest fears that I share with you.

I don't think one hundred percent that I'll win." After these clear sentences, she seems to switch back into professional mode and calls on her fans to vote for her.

“Of course I want to win,” she says and calculates that everyone could call 20 times.

Marie Reim before the ESC preliminary decision: Mix of soul striptease and PR video in the middle of the night

But not the big soul striptease at night, but a PR campaign for more attention and votes?

Probably a mix.

“I'm very, very tired,” adds Marie Reim and raves about the nice team at breakfast television, for which she had to get up so early on Thursday.

It continued with appointments, appointments, appointments.

“I've been off work for half an hour now and I really need to sleep.” She thanks her fans and says goodbye.

To bed?

No.

Marie Reim before the ESC preliminary decision: “I suddenly started crying”

Because shortly afterwards things get emotional again.

One of her best friends called her, Daniel Sommer, also a hit star.

“I suddenly started crying.

I don't know, it was really good that he called because I think something just had to come out of it, all the excitement, the stress, the anticipation, the hope of doing everything right, of making it.

It all just came out.”

A cleansing thunderstorm in the middle of the night?

It will be interesting to see whether the dark clouds have disappeared on Friday evening.

An expert sees Marie Reims' song as “THE opportunity” for Germany.

But she is also met with skepticism, for example because of her singing.

Even a real ESC legend turns up his nose.
