A mayoral election is coming up in the Tegernsee Valley.

In Gmund, the first chair in the town hall will be reassigned.

The mayoral election is on February 25, 2024.

The candidates introduce themselves here.

The mayoral election will take place in the municipality of Gmund on Sunday, February 25th.

The term of office of the current town hall boss Alfons Besel (FWG) ends on March 31st.

He is running for election again.

Babette Waxenberger (CSU) is running as the opposing candidate.

At this point we give both of them the opportunity to present their personal positions and goals before the vote.

Dear readers,

When the fourth grade students visit me in the town hall as part of their local history and subject matter lessons, I am often asked by them: “Do you like being mayor and why?” My answer: “Yes, I like being mayor because I like it Meeting people brings me a lot of joy and I am always able to build bridges openly and fairly between different views, opinions and personalities.”

As a mayor you have to deal with a wide variety of people, with a wide variety of characters.

It's always nice to see that we have wonderfully committed people in Gmund, especially our young citizens.

You want to get started and are optimistic.

With them we can confidently look to a good future.

We Gmunders are open, self-confident and down-to-earth.

And with these very positive characteristics, many citizens help shape Gmund and are involved in our clubs and associations.

Here, a stable social foundation is created on a voluntary basis - an optimal prerequisite for sustainable, positive development.

And so together we will succeed in continuing to make our home community worth living in.

We are ideally positioned to meet the challenges of the future.

I'm sure.

My goal is for all generations to live happily together in Gmund.

In my opinion, the following topics are of great importance:

My news

  • The eSeeshare rental model is particularly popular with local readers

  • A Plan D is required for the Wiessee parish hall

  • Biting review reading

  • Investment plan a “great achievement” read

  • Putin's daughter repeatedly appeared with presidential guards at Lake Tegernsee - German authorities were clueless

  • Braking cyclists, but how? read

  • Create affordable living space: Our young Gmunder families should be able to stay locally.

  • Continue to expand child care: Reliable child care and high-quality early childhood education are essential for our families.

  • Enabling senior-friendly living so that seniors can live in familiar surroundings.

  • Strengthen public transport and cycling and thus contribute to the mobility transition.

  • Appreciate and support volunteering because volunteering is the heart and soul of our community.

  • Work together with our entrepreneurs and farmers because this is where our livelihoods are earned.

  • Create sports and leisure opportunities, such as the swimming pool in the Tegernsee Valley and a bike park.

I will continue to be happy to work for the local community in the coming years.

Please give me your trust for our wonderful home community

As mayor, there are a few subject areas that I would like to tackle and implement promptly:

We have to prevent local families from emigrating because they can no longer afford to live in Gmund.

In addition to affordable living space, there is also a need for the compatibility of work and family, the expansion of digitalization through fiber optics and supply close to home.

There is still a need for needs-based child care (as a continuation of our successful CSU application to set up large day care in the Pius Children's Home).

Long-term planning security is essential for parents.

I won't let you down on this.

We also need to maintain and expand local jobs.

Furthermore, I speak out clearly against the selling out of our homeland.

Families are our future - they will continue to shape our community in the future.

Just like our farmers and farming families.

The current situation shows us: Significantly more appreciation and support is needed again!

We have to make Gmund attractive: Our community can no longer just be the bottleneck to the Tegernsee Valley.

Gastronomy, retail and medium-sized businesses must be strengthened in order to invite day trippers to linger and stop in Gmund.

A first option is the recently discussed fresh box - but only if we get our local producers on board.

Another solution is to make existing places more inviting, for example by adding greenery to them.

As a mother, but also as a citizen and active supervisor of the “Bus with Feet” project, the road safety of our children, seniors and the physically disabled is important to me.

The aim here is to defuse dangerous areas.

I can also well imagine us joining the on-call bus project – similar to Holzkirchen.

In this way we can increase mobility without bringing additional traffic onto the roads with further risks.

Our volunteers in the clubs and blue light organizations do great things.

To ensure that this continues to be the case in the future, I want to motivate and support young talent with various projects.

I will also give the youth a voice and set up a youth council.

Although there is still a lot to do, for example to advance the energy transition and create an inclusion playground, Gmund is ready for new things, but the tried and tested must be retained.

It is also important to make the administration closer to the citizens again.
