Munich - Armament, the war in Ukraine, the situation in Gaza, dealing with Vladimir Putin's Russia, the future of NATO - all of these topics are polarizing.

On Saturday (February 17th), the otherwise rather tranquil Munich will become the focal point: the 60th Security Conference will bring demonstrators of all different stripes onto the streets.

Powerful people from all over the world meet at the Bayerischer Hof Hotel to discuss, among other things, the wars and crises of the present.

In 2024, too, this will not only awaken the traditional protest of the peace movement.

An alliance with gangs in the lateral thinker scene is also on the way again.

The “Action Alliance against the NATO Security Conference” has clearly defined itself in advance.

Security conference in Munich: More than 5,000 emergency services

Munich police said a total of 18 demonstrations had already been reported in the area surrounding the event by Tuesday (February 13).

Other rallies would, among other things, have reference to the Middle East conflict or the situation in Iran.

They are planning to have more than 5,000 emergency services - but this is also to protect the conference participants and locations.

In addition to the Munich police, federal police and officers from other federal states will also be on duty to ensure safety for the conference participants and the population.

Munich's police vice-president Dibowski spoke of "increased abstract danger" due to the geopolitical situation.

However, there is no information about specific threats.
