The Göttingen group continues to recover from the dip in demand following the corona pandemic.
This also has an impact on sales.
Göttingen - Sales of the laboratory supplier Sartorius fell in 2023.
Compared to the previous year, it fell by 16.6 percent to a good 3.4 billion euros, as shown in the annual report presented in Göttingen on Friday.
At the beginning of the year, the group had explained that the boom in the corona pandemic was followed by a collapse in demand in 2023, which paralyzed business for an unexpectedly long time.
For 2024, Sartorius is targeting sales growth in the mid to upper single-digit percentage range.
Adjusted earnings before taxes, interest, depreciation and amortization (Ebitda) fell to 963 million euros.
The bottom line is that the adjusted group profit still reached 339 million euros, after 655 million in the previous year.
Sartorius boss Joachim Kreuzburg justified the decline, among other things, with the reduction of customer inventories and very weak demand in China.
Over the past year, Sartorius had already responded to the situation by cutting jobs.
