Fürstenfeldbruck district – The days are getting longer and it is slowly getting warmer again.

If it is still damp, the weather is perfect for hiking - at least for frogs, toads and newts.

A total of 13 amphibian species are native to the district, and as soon as they wake up from hibernation, they set off to mate in the pond.

This means: Drivers have to be particularly careful so that the wandering animals reach their destination safely.

Amphibians have to cross roads

At the moment it is still too cold for amphibian migration, but frost-free nights are forecast for the coming weeks with temperatures around four degrees in the first few hours of the night.

Then frogs, toads and newts will migrate back to their spawning grounds.

As soon as the temperatures are in the positive range (above four to five degrees Celsius) for several nights in a row and there is sufficient moisture or rain, the animals move from their winter quarters to the ponds and ponds.

During their mostly nocturnal migrations, the amphibians sometimes have to cross roads, which is fatal to many animals every year.

Losses can be reduced by setting up amphibian fences by nature conservation associations and the Fürstenfeldbruck district office as well as closing various roads at night.

The start and duration of the upcoming road closures between Alling and Germannsberg and between Weiherhaus and Pfaffing will be announced separately.

As in recent years, there will be no closure on Bahnhofstrasse in Grafrath, but the maximum permissible speed will be limited to 30 kilometers per hour.

Like last year, there will be a speed limit on Parsbergstrasse in the Dötelbauer area.

In addition to the diversions for buses caused by the closures, there will also be the following diversion this year: Bus route 838 will be in the evening from 7 p.m., winter time, and 8 p.m., summer time, not the route between Glonn, Aichach-Friedberg district and Vogach, Fürstenfeldbruck district drive on.

There is heavy amphibian migration on this stretch of road.

Closures are short-term

This year, in the municipality of Eichenau and the city of Puchheim, the municipal Olchinger Straße between Ihleweg (city of Puchheim) and Zweigstraße (community of Eichenau) will be closed at night during the amphibian migration period.

This closure is carried out jointly by the municipality of Eichenau and the city of Puchheim.

A diversion for car traffic will be set up.

The exact start date will be announced here shortly.

The Fürstenfeldbruck district office strives to keep the restrictions for drivers as low as possible.

That's why the roads are only closed when the mass migration of amphibians begins due to weather conditions.

For this reason, the announcement of road closures can only be made at very short notice.

Drivers beware

However, not all migratory amphibians can be protected by these measures.

“We therefore ask drivers in the next few weeks, also in their own interest (danger of skidding), to be more careful, especially in forest areas and in the area of ponds and ponds,” appeals the district office.

“Please be considerate of the migratory animals and help the endangered amphibians to survive.”
