Two pictures, one cake: “Burn-away cakes” are always good for a surprise
A festively decorated cake with heavenly buttercream and loose bases is of course the starting point for “burn-away cakes”.
The creative cake recipe was made particularly popular by TikTok user @cakesbynams, who makes no secret of her work process:
The photo below is printed on edible paper or fondant paper with food coloring and placed on the finished decorated cake.
Professionals usually use a special printer for this that works with edible ink.
A thick layer of frosting is then sprayed around the edge of the picture, onto which the top photo is placed.
This creates a gap between the two images, ensuring that only the top image burns.
The latter is printed on thin and highly flammable wafer paper.
Finally, the top photo is decorated with a stylish frosting border and the “burn-away cake” is ready, which can catch fire immediately - but of course only under supervision.

With a few tricks, the “burn-away cake” can also be recreated at home
If you want to start a cute TikTok DIY project and add a bit of color, you can try your hand at making your own “burn-away cake”.
The steps above are followed, but two slices of wafer paper cut to fit are required.
These are not printed but rather painted by hand.
So that the cake can still be cut and distributed, food coloring pens from the bakery shop are used.
Even the homemade version can be embellished as you wish, the next party is sure to come.
Is the cake missing the finishing touch?
A photo effect as if by magic creates astonished faces.
