Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck found out about the wind turbines and bird monitoring in Fuchstal - accompanied by farmers' protests.

Fuchstal - Economics Minister and Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck arrived in the Fuchstal community forest 20 minutes before 8 a.m. on Friday, where he spoke about the three wind turbines and bird monitoring - in this pilot project, wind turbines switch off automatically when a protected bird such as the red kite is present approaching - informed.

The Green Party politician's visit was accompanied by a massive police presence in the forest and on the streets as well as a considerable media presence and a protest by farmers against the traffic light government's policies.

Michaela Kaniber (CSU), State Minister for Food, Agriculture and Forestry, came from the Bavarian State Government to the Leeder community forest.

Input for the two ministers was provided by Fuchstal Mayor Erwin Karg and Robert Sing, the planner of the three wind turbines and managing director of “ Bürgerwind Fuchstal Gemeindewald GmbH”.

This is the company that invested in the three wind turbines and in which citizens and the community each contributed half.

Habeck returns in a police car - farmers and protesters slow down traffic

Habeck, currently the target of many politicians and citizens, made his way back in a police vehicle.

He just managed to get through on the narrow road over the Aschthal to Leeder before farmers and other protesters slowed down the traffic with smugglers.

Other employees were sitting in the Vice Chancellor's company car, which was much further behind.

Habeck had his next appointment at the Garching nuclear fusion reactor at 11 a.m.

Fuchstal's mayor Karg, his deputy Stephan Völk, managing director Gerhard Schmid and Janina Dangel from the Fuchstal administrative community stayed on site in the community forest the longest.

And they chose another way back.

They drove via Dienhausen and Denklingen back to the town hall in Leeder.

Around 120 people demonstrate with 75 tractors

After the events in Biberach, where a Green Party event had to be canceled due to aggressive protests, a large police presence was on site in Fuchstal.

According to a police press release, there were two unregistered gatherings nearby in which around 120 people with 75 tractors took part.

But everything went “essentially trouble-free,” according to police.

Bürgerwind managing director promotes citizen participation in wind power

Robert Sing, as planner and Bürgerwind managing director, energetically advocated for the citizens of the region to be involved in wind power with Federal Economics Minister Habeck and Agriculture Minister Kaniber.

An approach that focuses on large investors and possible “subordinated loans” for the citizens is not met with acceptance, says Sing.

The managing director of the Bürgerwind-Gesellschaft was referring to the approach in Bavaria, where the state forests select large capital providers as investors for the expansion of wind power on their own land.

Minister Kaniber emphasized that citizen participation was still an important point that could even become a co-criterion.

Economics Minister Habeck recognized a “dilemma”: the Bavarian state forests would generate income in this way, but intensive citizen participation, as in the example of Fuchstal, with wind turbines in the state forest and in the community forest, would not come about.

The approach is different.

But these are “legitimate interests in each case”.

Mayor Karg informed that after eight years - that's how long the four wind turbines in Kingholz have been running - 100 percent of the deposit that came from the 130 commanders could now be paid out again based on the electricity yield.

Even if you ignore 2022 with the exceptionally high electricity prices, there were already profitable times in the previous years, planner Sing and Mayor Karg made it clear.

Agriculture Minister calls Fuchstal “exemplary” in realizing renewable energies

One person who subscribed to shares is Johannes Wolffhardt, an architect from Asch.

They were certainly lucky with the wind power project.

But in all investment considerations, it is an important concern for him to contribute to the expansion of renewable energies.

Dietrich Gemmel, technical director of Lechwerke Augsburg, addressed the topic of network expansion.

Security is important for planners and investors when it comes to the question of who the potential feeders or buyers will be.

Agriculture Minister Kaniber called Fuchstal “exemplary” in implementing renewable energies.

Habeck added that he was pleased about the enthusiasm for wind power in Bavaria.

This has no tradition in the Free State.

Wind power is a “powerful energy source”.

The wind power in Fuchstal, which will soon have seven turbines, is “something special”.
