An employee of the Schongau Aldi found a wedding ring.

The owner was now able to be found through a call in our newspaper.

Schongau – Andreas Resch beams as he slips the gold wedding ring onto his finger.

He had to go without it for months - “that was cruel,” says the 69-year-old with a wink.

After all, he has been married to his Martina for almost 35 years and he always wore the wedding ring on his hand.

At the end of last year, the ring was suddenly no longer there and the couple didn't really know where to look for it.

“We checked out every store,” says Resch.

“We just didn’t go to Aldi.”

Wedding ring found at Aldi is returned to owner – “I didn’t think we’d get it back”

That's exactly where the 69-year-old lost his ring: Karin Thielmann, who works at Aldi in Schongau, found the special piece of jewelry in the checkout area during one of her shifts.

Together with branch manager Joe Hölzle, she set out to find the owner.

A call in our newspaper finally led to the owner being located.

Resch's son-in-law read the article and informed his father-in-law.

Exactly on Valentine's Day, the wedding ring was returned to Andreas Resch.

The relief for him and his wife is of course great.

“I didn’t think we would get it again,” says the Schongauer.

Aldi employee Thielmann is also happy: “I’m really happy that the ring is now back where it belongs.”

Resch can easily piece together how it happened that his wedding ring slipped off his finger.

“It was always loose,” he says, showing how easily the ring can be pulled down.

This shouldn't happen to him again.

“I’ll have the ring tightened straight away.”
