The Wolfratshausen mountain rescue service is planning to purchase universal first aid backpacks.

Our colleagues in Bad Tölz are already using them.

Wolfratshausen – The Wolfratshausen mountain rescue service is there where help is needed.

But the members are not only present in the mountains, also in the Isar floodplains.

“I see the pressure on leisure time,” said Mayor Klaus Heilinglechner at the annual meeting of volunteers.

“The more people out in nature, the greater the chance that something will happen and you will be called out.”

Bergwacht currently has 47 members

The mountain rescue service currently has 47 members.

It was founded in 1920 by Franz Lüttich, Alois Heigl and Georg Goldhofer.

As part of the supply service, they work on weekends and public holidays with their Munich colleagues at the Hütte am Latschenkopf, a base in the popular Brauneck skiing and hiking area in Lenggries.

“That alone amounted to over 3,000 hours worked,” says on-call manager Andreas Westermeier.

Also in the Pupplinger Au since 1980

But the mountain rescue service is not only active in the mountains, but also in the Pupplinger Au nature conservation and local recreation area.

They have been there since it was founded, since 1980 on behalf of the Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district office.

The Isar floodplains are also the area where the Wolfratshauser mountain rescue service operates, here during an inspection with police and rangers.

“Now we want to provide every mountain rescuer with universal bags with material for extended first aid,” says head of preparedness Andreas Westermeier.

The contents should consist of bandages, but also a universal splint, material to stop critical bleeding and a high-quality resuscitator.

Our colleagues in Bad Tölz are already using these.

They should be used during preventative care or deployment, but also privately.

“For example, when you are out in the mountains, cycling or your neighbor needs help.”

The cost per backpack is around 150 euros

Every mountain guard should be as well prepared as possible and be able to help others in everyday life, says Westermeier, justifying the planned purchase.

The cost per backpack is around 150 euros; each mountain rescue service provider should contribute a contribution of 50 euros.

The initial plan is to purchase three copies.

“This means everyone can familiarize themselves with the bag.” For the mountain rescue service, standardization is important “so that our volunteer forces can act as simply and expediently as possible.”

We are currently looking for donors to make this goal a reality.
