A couple from Épône was taken into police custody on Tuesday after the death of their little daughter last June.
They were interviewed by investigators before being released.
The police suspect deprivation of care or food.
Last June, the 15-month-old baby was discovered unresponsive in the family home, located in a residential area of this town in Yvelines near Mantes-la-Jolie, where the couple and their two children had just moved.
The Smur and the police went to the scene and found that the child had died of a heart attack.
