The president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, shared this Friday a small compilation of an interview he gave to a Russian journalist from a Spanish media, the first he has granted privately in several years.
In the video, just over a minute long, you can see López Obrador sitting in his office at the National Palace in Mexico City in front of Inna Afinogenova from Canal Red.

The president claimed not to have granted these types of interviews throughout his mandate that began in 2018. However, López Obrador spoke with Telemundo two years after becoming president of Mexico.
In the promotional, the president addresses - in a superficial way - topics such as the situation on the border with the United States or the fact that he does not speak English.
“They were talking about closing the border and I was laughing
,” the Mexican president is heard saying about a talk he had at the time with former President Donald Trump, during his term.

Furthermore, López Obrador jokingly rejected the version that the communicator reminded him that the Mexican presidential chair was “haunted.”
Laughing, the president can only be heard saying:
“Imagine, if it were true, I wouldn't be here
. ”
Then, you can also hear the president say “you're going to leave me like a squeezed lemon,” after a series of questions from the journalist about the most difficult decision he has made during his mandate or about what worries him currently. and that he did not have in mind before becoming president.
Days before the publication of the video, the president said in his traditional daily morning appearance, known as 'Mañanera', that he had given an interview to

Shortly after, Canal Red announced that it was going to broadcast an interview with “one of the main leaders in Latin America.”
López Obrador announced that the interview will be broadcast in its entirety next week, through Canal Red, a channel founded in 2023 by Pablo Iglesias, founder of the Spanish leftist party Podemos, and who in January of last year met with the Mexican leader.
