The Goldachtaler Eicherloh theater group will perform the Bavarian comedy “Power-Paula” in March.

Advance sales start on Sunday, February 18th.

Eicherloh – “What should I do in a retirement home?

Knitting and reading the newspaper all day?” Well, for some people that might not be the worst prospect of retirement.

But for Grandma Dirnberger, this idea is horrifying.

So she escapes from the retirement home and uses her power to shake up her family's life.

The piece “Power-Paula” can be seen in March at the Eicherloh Community Center.

The Goldachtaler theater group is bringing Ulla Kling's Bavarian comedy in three acts to the stage and is busy rehearsing.

Choosing this year's piece wasn't easy for director Jakob Reiser.

He says he viewed 30 stage works in advance.

The majority were out of the question from the outset, only three pieces made it onto the shortlist - and the “Power Paula” won the race.

“That was the best fit, and something was happening on stage,” says Reiser, explaining his decision.

Speaking of the stage: It is completely new this year, as the game director explains: “It has never been as wide as this year.

We took advantage of everything that was possible.” And there could also be an innovation in terms of technology – but only with the next piece.

This time the Goldachtalers want to try out headset microphones at a rehearsal.

If this test is successful, the actors can imagine playing with it in the future - so that everyone in the room can understand the dialogues well.

Such an investment needs to be carefully considered, as the technology is very expensive, as Goldachtaler chairman Anton Kollmannsberger explains.

What is tried and tested is that there is also food, drink and music for the guests at the eight performances in mid-March - the latter provided by Thomas Kressirer and his fellow musicians.

And what exactly is the comedy about?

Real estate agent Gerd Wiesbeck (Max Lehmer) is celebrating a business success with family and friends when Grandma Dirnberger (Luise Fischer), known as “Power Paula”, unexpectedly bursts into the lively company after being picked up by the police.

She secretly escaped from the retirement home and spent some time “under the bridges”; her appearance horrified the family.

Not to mention the canary “Dino”, which she also has in her luggage.

Only her grandson Flori (Matthias Junker) is enthusiastic and sticks by her.

So she causes surprises and small scandals every day.

She invites “Stopsel-Beni” (Sigi Käser), a lovable bum colleague from her bridge days, for a drink – including a cleansing bath.

She goes to the disco with Flori for a “bride show”.

And her suggestion with the fence post to buy her a small apartment is also met with a lot of incomprehension.

Paula’s “power” must be activated again.

With a pinch of cheek, cunning, but also a lot of charm, Paula achieves her goal.

Other roles to be seen include Margit Rüdiger (Jutta Wiesbeck), Bernadette Bachschneider (Lilo), Verena Kressirer (Marlies), Stefan Zerndl (Director Wimmer), Veronika Fischer (Gunda Wimmer), Sebastian Staudt and Benedikt Albert (police officers) as well as Valentin Lehmer (Supplier).

Chairman Kollmannsberger acts as prompter, Anita Hetz and Anna Schnalke are responsible for the mask.
