A 22-year-old man was indicted for the murder of his girlfriend and placed in pre-trial detention in Fort-de-France, the prosecution said on Friday February 16, a crime which arouses indignation among feminist associations in Martinique.

The indicted confessed to being the author of the shot which fatally hit a 22-year-old woman in the face during the night from Tuesday to Wednesday in a residence in the city.

Known to the police and the courts, the young man was sentenced in 2023 to eight months in prison for carrying a category C weapon. This is the third murder committed in Martinique since the start of the year. , the first feminicide.
