Paris – For an expectant mother near Paris, this man came at just the right time.
Because when the 34-year-old was surprised by the onset of contractions in the middle of the street, a driver rushed to help.
From his vehicle he saw the woman writhing on a traffic island and didn't hesitate.
Firefighter helps with birth on sidewalk: Couldn't sleep for several nights
The man, who comes from Algeria and is in France without papers, worked as a firefighter in his country and had therefore already experienced situations like this.
He kept a cool head and assisted the expectant mother during the birth until he held the child in his arms.
Before an ambulance could arrive, a man assisted the 34-year-old with the birth of the child.

But the birth of her child was not only remembered by the new mother.
Her supporter also carried the incident with her.
As he told the press, the incident left him unable to sleep for several nights due to adrenaline.

But then the surprise: When the young mother visited the hospital, the courageous helper learned very special news.
The 34-year-old named the newborn after her supporter.
The boy will go by his first name “Rabah”.
The mayor of the Paris suburb of Aulnay-sous-Bois, where the baby was born, also thanked the obstetrician for his courage.
Rabah is now hoping to get residence papers so that she can work as a firefighter in France.
