The Miesbacher Breeding Association has a new chairman: the previous deputy, Markus Dinzenhofer, has been elected as the successor to Hans Rauchberger.

These are his goals.

Miesbach

- Hans Rauchberger was right with his prediction: “Crises always come and they have to be solved,” the now 50-year-old from Lenggries told our newspaper when he took office as the new chairman of the Miesbach breeding association at the end of 2017.

In fact, a lot of unexpected things happened to him and his team during his time in office, including repeated criticism of animal transport and, most recently, even a complaint from the animal rights organization PETA.

Rauchberger and his new managing director Josef Günthner always strived for information and transparency.

This is also how Markus Dinzenhofer from Pang near Rosenheim wants to handle it.

The 50-year-old and previous vice-chairman was elected to head the breeding association after Rauchberger was no longer available for operational reasons after seven years.

We asked Dinzenhofer in an interview what he plans to do as the new boss of 1,300 member companies and what drives him.

Mr. Dinzenhofer, PETA accused the Miesbach breeding association of “massive violence against calves” in August last year.

Even if you were still vice-chairman at the time, how did you feel about such accusations?

This hits you hard, regardless of whether you are on the board or simply one of the breeders from the member companies.

We all love our animals and have cared for them with passion since childhood.

When you are confronted with such accusations in public, it obviously hurts a lot.

Your predecessor Hans Rauchberger and managing director Josef Günthner have gone on the offensive and have also dealt with the criticism in a self-critical manner.

How will you handle this?

Exactly like that.

Transparency and openness are the be-all and end-all. We have nothing to hide and can play with open cards.

In general, we have always tried, regardless of such incidents, to raise public awareness of our work.

Whether with the regular animal shows or with other events, for which we are happy to make the Oberlandhalle available.

On April 7th we have a double anniversary coming up here with the celebration of the tenth anniversary of the new hall and the founding of the breeding association 130 years ago.

It's a great pleasure for me to be able to organize something like this shortly after taking office.

How long have you personally been associated with the breeding association?

Since I was a little boy.

When I was five years old, I went to the markets in Miesbach with my grandfather.

He was also a member of the licensing committee.

Since then we have always marketed exclusively through the Miesbacher breeding association.

How do you actually cope with the double burden of your office as chairman and head of the local court?

I'm lucky that my family is completely behind me.

My junior is already getting very involved, even though he is still attending the winter school in Rosenheim.

It wouldn't work any other way with 100 dairy cows.

My news

  • Brown signs on motorways: Clients are threatened with significant costs

  • The community is gradually losing patience: Gasthof zur Post in Schliersee has been empty for years

  • Mountain bike trail in Hausham: Route on Brenten becomes legal

  • Alcohol and drugs: Police check 1,644 people

  • Level of care: One in five objections across Bavaria is successful - read “Take a closer look”.

  • Building committee agrees to increase the size of the former Schlecker market

If you look at your very personal experiences as a member of the breeding association: What have been your most beautiful moments so far?

Of course, a lot has come together over the long period of time.

The highlights were certainly the marketing of one of our bulls to an insemination station and the fact that we took part in the 2014 Federal Show with one of our cows.

That's quite an award.

And what are your goals as the new chairman?

First and foremost, to maintain Miesbach as a market location and to position it well for the future.

This may sound obvious, but it is far from it.

We are also feeling the consequences of structural change in agriculture in a decline in livestock numbers.

At the same time, private retailers are also trying to get good animals.

Our goal must therefore be to keep marketing via the breeding association attractive.

With a large selection, good prices - but also with a platform through which you can obtain important information and exchange information with other breeders.

How do you see the breeding association staffed?

We have a great team.

Despite being only 32 years old, our managing director Josef Günthner has already done an excellent job and managed the events surrounding the PETA story very professionally.

I am of course particularly pleased that Martin Biechl from Feldkirchen-Westerham, the son of long-time chairman Balthasar Biechl, has been elected as my deputy.
