Verdi recently called on Lufthansa ground staff at several airports to stop work.
Now it’s the turn of the Lufthansa subsidiary “Discover”.

In the industrial dispute at the Lufthansa subsidiary Discover Airlines, the Cockpit Association union is increasing the pressure.
For the first time, she called on long-haul pilots from the parent company Lufthansa to go on strike in solidarity with their Discover colleagues.
The support campaign announced on Friday is limited to the Boeing 787 fleet, which only has a few aircraft.
There will be a strike on five departures from Frankfurt between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. on Monday morning (February 19).
Other takeoffs with other aircraft types are not affected.

The next flight cancellations will take place next weekend: Everyone who wanted to fly with the Lufthansa subsidiary “Discover” will have to look for alternatives: The airline’s pilots will be on strike from Saturday.
The Cockpit Association union has called on its members to go on a three-day strike starting next Saturday.
The strike is scheduled to end on Monday at 11:59 p.m.
Since December, the pilots have already carried out a five-hour warning strike and two regular strikes to reach an initial collective agreement.
The Cockpit Association said the aim is still to reach a conclusion on remuneration and general tariffs.

Update from February 13, 2024, 5:00 p.m.:
There are no signs of a quick agreement in the collective bargaining dispute among Lufthansa ground staff, even after an improved offer from the company.
On Tuesday, Verdi negotiator Marvin Reschinsky described the offer as “anti-social” compared to the pilots.
In a circular from the union to members it said: “The group is providing maximum increases for other professional groups with incomes of up to 300,000 euros per year.
We on the ground with starting hourly wages of 13 euros, on the other hand, should continue to be content with a fraction.”
New Lufthansa strike likely – Verdi rejects offer as “unsocial”.
In the new offer, the company shortens the term from 36 to 25 months and offers the full inflation compensation bonus of 3,000 euros to all employees.
According to the proposal, the first table increase of 4 percent should take effect in December 2024, before a second stage of 5.5 percent in February next year.
Verdi wants to discuss the situation with employees in the coming days and discuss how to proceed.

After the 27-hour warning strike by Lufthansa ground staff, the collective bargaining parties are negotiating again.
Representatives of the Verdi union and Lufthansa met at Frankfurt Airport on Monday, as both sides reported.

The Verdi warning strike at Lufthansa will also lead to some flight cancellations on Thursday.

Around 7,000 people took part in the warning strikes at the Frankfurt, Munich, Hamburg, Düsseldorf and Berlin locations on Wednesday, as Verdi negotiator Marvin Reschinsky reported.

Munich - Things are getting chaotic again at German airports, Verdi has called for an all-day strike by Lufthansa ground staff at several locations next Wednesday (February 7, 2024).
Those called upon are, among others, employees of the ground services in the check-in area and flight handling as well as technology.
This continues a series of strikes after strikes at airports in Germany caused unrest last week.
The strike is scheduled to begin at 4 a.m. on Wednesday and end at 7 a.m. on Thursday.
The airports in Frankfurt, Hamburg, Berlin, Düsseldorf and Munich are affected.

“Major flight cancellations”: Verdi is demanding 12.5 percent more salary – now comes the Lufthansa strike on February 7th
With the strike on Wednesday, the union wants to put pressure on Germany's largest airline.
Verdi is therefore demanding 12.5 percent more salary, but at least 500 euros more per month for twelve months and better conditions for shift work.
Negotiations are scheduled to continue on February 12th.
Ver.di had already presented its demands at the beginning of December and sent them to the Lufthansa Group.
