Fans of the popular series “The Handmaid's Tale” will have to be patient.
The sixth and final season will not appear until 2025 at the earliest.
The season finale is of course always something special for series fans, especially with successful productions like Game of Thrones.
Finally, the story, which has probably been followed for several years, is coming to an end.
The fate of characters who have suffered for years is often decided in the last episodes of a series, as in the German series “The Mountain Rescuers”.
This is probably what happens to fans of the series “The Handmaid's Tale”.
Until that happens, however, we still have to be patient.

What is the dark US drama series all about?
The story is based on the 1985 novel “The Handmaid’s Tale” by Marget Atwood and even expands on it.
The action takes place in the near future - more precisely in the patriarchal, Christian fundamentalist theocracy of Gilead.
Women are largely without rights in this military dictatorship, which was created by a violent overthrow in the USA.
Many of them are enslaved as servants and abused to bear children to the ruling class of commanders and their infertile wives.

The main character June - whose maid name is Offred - also suffers a similar fate; she lives as a maid in the villa of high-ranking official Fred Waterford and is supposed to conceive and give birth to a child from Fred instead of Fred's infertile wife Serena.
However, since Serena suspects that Fred cannot father children either, she asks June to let chauffeur Nick impregnate her.
However, a passionate, intimate relationship soon develops between Nick and June.
As a result, the series is characterized by dramatic events, wild love stories and devious intrigues.
The Handmaid's Tale: Book author is involved in the series
The first season, released in 2017 on the video portal Hulu, largely follows the plot of the book.
From the second season onwards, however, the story develops freely.
However, author Margaret Atwood was consulted during the development of the series to ensure that the progression of the story did not contradict her ideas.
For example, Atwood insisted that the main character's younger daughter must survive because she wanted to continue telling her life story.
