Histadrut chairman Arnon Bar David today (Saturday) sharply attacked Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, accusing him of neglecting the events of October 7 and calling for his resignation. "Netanyahu should first take responsibility for what happened and then let him make his decisions," said Bar David at a culture event in Be'er Sheva. "We need elections, we need a restart for the State of Israel.
We need to set an agreed date for the elections, by December of this year," Bar David continued. "It is impossible to continue with the 120 people sitting in the Knesset today who produce almost nothing and nothing for us.
They may have to take to the streets here, and I hope we won't have to reach a wave of protest to bring about elections."
"We went through the most terrible year in the history of the State of Israel.
A year of division and division and social polarization and a legal revolution.
Someone made us enemies of each other, divided sector by sector, and in the end the writing was on the wall.
Instead of dealing with our enemies and their intensification, deal with Tefal here.
The prime minister took us to the edge.
There is only one way out - elections.
The prime minister should first of all take responsibility for what happened and then make his own decisions. If I were him - I would resign."

In the meantime, Bar David promised that the Histadrut would join the protests and demonstrations that would be held against the government: "Someone made us enemies of each other, divided sector by sector, and in the end the writing was on the wall. Instead of dealing with our enemies and their strengthening, here they dealt with Tafel. The Prime Minister took us to the edge."
Bar David also criticized Netanyahu and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich for not listening to his advice regarding adjusting the state budget to the needs of the war.
