Fürstenfeldbruck – Since 2017, the Sprint association from Fürstenfeldbruck (Upper Bavaria, Germany) has been offering the “Starting Aid” project for young unemployed men and women.
In addition to obtaining a school leaving certificate, young people and adolescents should, above all, learn practical professional content and develop their own professional prospects.
“In a time of increasing shortage of skilled workers, we want to motivate and enable young people to complete training, for example in the automotive sector, in crafts or in the commercial sector,” says Karen Adomeit from Sprint.
Be part of a race for once
A special part of the starting aid is the annual race project, which is carried out in collaboration with the company “Leonard Stangl Fahrzeugbau” and financed through donations and sponsors.
Professional riders take part in a 24-hour enduro race here.
With the guidance and support of their supervisors, the participants in the starting assistance take care of the preparation, contact with sponsors, supplying the racing team, looking after and maintaining the machines and are on site as a pit team during the race.
Last year the race project took place in Wales at the end of August as part of the “Dawn to dusk Enduro” in Glynneath.
The Race Project team was able to win first place.
Self-confidence and structure
The Starthilfe Race project helps participants to take responsibility for others and at the same time to become aware of their own effectiveness, as every individual task contributes to the team's success.
After this special experience as part of the 24-hour race, the participants often gain enough self-confidence to take their lives into their own hands again and set their own goals.
In addition, the participants have contact with companies as part of the race and through sponsorship.
This can also result in an internship or a training position.
In 2024, participation in the 24-hour enduro in Lagnövägen, Sweden is planned for July.
Looking for sponsors
“Since the largest sponsor to date unfortunately announced at the beginning of the year that he could no longer support the project for economic reasons, we are looking for new supporters,” said Adomeit.
“We warmly welcome both companies and private individuals who care about promoting youth.”
