Instead of the previous four, only two citizens' meetings will take place in Maisach this year.
Reason according to town hall boss Hans Seidl: The topics are equally important for all districts and therefore everyone needs to talk to each other.
Maisach - For years it was a Maisach law: There are four citizens' assemblies - one for the main town of Maisach, one for Gernlinden, one together for the districts of Überacker and Rottbach and one together for Germerswang and Malching.
In his reports, town hall boss Hans Seidl always went into detail about the projects in the respective municipal area, depending on the location.
This is now over.
There are only two meetings left for the citizens of all districts: on Wednesday, March 6th, and on Thursday, March 14th, from 7 p.m. in the Gernlinden community center.
Everyone hears the same report.
Municipal regulations provide for an appointment
The second appointment would actually not be necessary: according to the municipal regulations, only one citizens' meeting must be held annually.
Seidl sees March 14th as a replacement offer for everyone who didn't have time on March 6th.
In addition, he did not want to cut from four dates to just one in the first year of the change.
The innovation has a substantive reason: Maisach's financial problems.
The municipality has to save money, which is why association subsidies have already been reduced.
In addition, income in the municipal budget must be increased.
Daycare fees and water prices will soon rise, and the local council is also considering increasing property tax B from 2025.
This affects all citizens, which is why Seidl wants to hear the opinion of as many Maisach residents as possible.
The citizens of the districts should have a conversation at the meetings - the Gernlindner with the Rottbacher, the Malchinger with the Maisacher.
Seidl: “It is no longer the time when everyone cooks their own soup.” Citizens need to “get to know the issues, challenges and concerns of other parts of the community better” and say how the local administration should deal with the financial problem.
For Seidl there are only two options: “Offers down or joint effort up.” That means: Either everything has to be cut or everyone pays a little more fees/taxes in many areas so that the offers can be maintained.
The community center in Gernlinden was chosen as the meeting place - for a very specific reason: “The community center is a not insignificant part of our burden,” says Seidl.
As reported, the complex needs to be renovated.
It will cost ten million euros.
However, the local council had confirmed several times that it wanted to undertake this project in order to have an event hall in the community.
Some more money for drinks
The necessary technology is available in the community center, says Seidl.
In addition, citizens' meetings there are a commitment to this venue.
The restaurant at the hall has been closed for some time due to the pending renovation.
But drinks will be prepared for the citizens - “we can still afford that”.
He expects at least 200 listeners on the first evening.
There will be less going on at the second appointment.

The planned process
There will be awards at the start of the meetings at 7 p.m.
On March 6th it will be the turn of deserving citizens and firefighters, and on March 14th it will be the turn of athletes and cultural workers.
This should take half an hour each.
Then Mayor Hans Seidl's report begins, which, as he announces, will "stay a little more on the surface and last shorter" this year.
He wants to be finished in 50 minutes so that he can then have another 15 minutes just for the topic of property taxes.
There should also be enough time for discussion with citizens.
Figures and facts from the community end up in an information booklet, which you can download about two weeks before the citizens' meeting on maisach.de.
can download.
Some printed copies will be available at meetings.
