In the south of Germany there are dozens of trucks driving around.

Together they would be worth millions, but the property is becoming a lost place.

Friedrichshafen – Trucks are lined up on a property, but no one has driven the vehicles for years.

Small trees and bushes have long been growing between them, and the entire property is becoming more and more overgrown and developing into a German lost place.

If you consider the value of the vehicles, there are millions of euros lying around on the property.

In the meantime, the unreal place in Friedrichshafen (Baden-Württemberg) has been explored by explorers, so-called urban explorers, who share their impressions in videos.

But what happened here?

Lost Place in Friedrichshafen: “As a truck driver, my heart really rises – or sinks.”

In one of the videos, YouTuber Dirk Ferrato explores the property, which looks like a truck graveyard.

“A truck like this costs 100,000 euros to purchase,” he explains.

There are over 20 vehicles on the property, worth at least two million euros - at least before the site was closed.

“There are millions of things that have stood here and now the things are no longer worth anything because they have been standing here for ten years.”

Abandoned and overgrown places, so-called lost places, arouse curiosity in many people.

That's why a historian is even writing a book about lost places in Bavaria.

Thieves have long since helped themselves to parts of the vehicles on the property in Friedrichshafen, and broken windows present a sad picture for the urban explorer.

“It’s a shame about the trucks,” says Ferrato as he tours the property.

“As a truck driver, that really makes my heart rise – or sink.”

Insolvency proceedings cause truck cemetery – property in Baden-Württemberg is developing into a lost place

The trucks on the property belong to a shipping company that had to file for bankruptcy several years ago.

However, the process has apparently not progressed since then.

Even if the property appears to be overgrown and becoming a lost place, authorities are not allowed to intervene.

This would only be possible if the vehicles posed a danger.

“It would be problematic if engine, transmission or hydraulic oil were to leak from the vehicles in large quantities.

But that is not the case so far,” explained Robert Schwarz, press spokesman for the Bodenseekreis district office, to the

Südkurier

in 2021. Schwarz also points out that the trucks are protected property, even if the property appears to be overgrown .

“We are waiting for the outcome of the insolvency proceedings and are hoping that an orderly solution to the situation on the site will then be possible.” Who knows, perhaps the property will also be converted into a cultural center, like another lost place in Baden-Württemberg becomes.
