“I never forgave myself.
» Guest of BFMTV this Sunday, Adrien Quatennens was questioned about the domestic violence of which he was guilty against his ex-wife.
Sentenced in December 2022, removed from La France insoumis for two months, the northern MP is making a difficult return to the media scene.
He assured France 2 that he regretted having placed himself as a victim after being convicted.
“I regret the words I chose in my defense,” he told BFMTV.
The day after his conviction, he denounced a “media lynching”, also criticizing his ex-wife and her “threats”.
On the other hand, he believes that he did not try to “minimize” his actions.
“I never minimized or trivialized my mistakes, I immediately regretted and recognized them.
I did not wait to be indicted by the courts to recognize it,” he said.
“Continue to fight this fight”
“Everyone can make mistakes,” assures the man who says he wants to get involved against violence against women, although he knows he cannot be “a leading figure” in the movement.
“I was already leading this fight before, I want to continue to lead it today.
» Now divorced, the parliamentarian also pointed out the obvious: “We must not lecture women who speak.

Asked about his legitimacy in returning to the media field, Adrien Quatennens maintained that “many French people wanted this return”.
Once considered the second figure in LFI behind Jean-Luc Mélenchon, he saw his rating logically drop due to his legal affairs.
Does he see himself as his successor?
“It’s an ambition that many have attributed to me, but I have never claimed it.

On the other hand, he made the fight against the far right a priority.
“We are in a speed race against the extreme right, which is ahead of us,” he illustrated.
