Dancing, chatting, enjoying: the motto of the evening “One Love” was fully realized at the Afro Vibes evening in the Lindenkeller.

“One Love” was the motto on Saturday in the Lindenkeller.

A six-hour music marathon took place there under the heading “Afro Vibes”.

Freising

- It is a motto that Bob Marley carried into the world decades ago and that also had great meaning in the Lindenkeller last Saturday - namely "One Love" as a synonym for a big world in which there are no longer any differences.

With a lot of passion, Silvie Hoffi and Fritz Andresen put together a concert that was more than just a musical evening.

The six-hour music marathon under the title “Afro Vibes” could well have been a tremendous first serve for an annual homage to the soundtrack of the African world - possibly as a formidable addition to the Freising Africa Festival.

Bringing people together

One thing was important to Silvie Hoffi, who works at the Freising tourist information office: “I just wanted to do something that would bring a wide variety of people together – regardless of whether they were black or white.” On Saturday she stood with Andresen at the ticket counter and said: “I just noticed that something like that was missing in Freising.” Although there is an Africa festival, in her opinion the focus there isn’t necessarily on music, which is why she then approached Andresen to present her idea.

“We haven't had an event like this for a long time because somehow there weren't enough people - until Silvie came,” Andresen explained and continued: “At first I thought it was a good idea - but shortly afterwards I was sure that it's a great idea." His wish: "People should celebrate well today!" Hoffi's wish: "People should just feel the music today - and dance!"

The Freising artist Pepito Anumu also wanted to dance, and he was able to add another artistic level to the concert - with his works that hung on the Lindenkeller walls as well as on the stage.

He formulated what he wanted live on stage shortly before the first beat: “Peace is not just a word – peace is an attitude!” Deputy District Administrator Robert Wäger, who was also in the long queue in front of the ticket counter, was able to sign it was standing.

His answer to the question of whether he would last until two in the morning: “I don’t think so.”

The band “Chilanty” was also perfectly chosen as the opener, warming up the packed house with roots reggae, ska and pop – with a lot of verve and the typical Chilanty drive that got the first guests on the dance floor brought.

The main act: “Osumare”, an ensemble that thrilled the audience after just one second - with a calypso sound to start with, which immediately caused the indoor temperature to rise by ten degrees.

The addition of DJ Bifof, who gave the dance fans the perfect sound until two in the morning, made the first Afro Vibes concert an unforgettable evening full of light and glitter - an evening that hasn't been seen in Freising for a long time .

Dance, smile, be happy

The nice thing: The guests immediately understood the concept of the evening, because while some enjoyed the concert, others chatted in the foyer or bought a Bob Marley picture at the artist stand in front of the ticket counter.

The wonderful thing: People danced here like there was no tomorrow - and the later the evening, the more people fell into each other's arms.

So the motto “One Love” worked wonderfully – one of the best Afro vibes that could be heard in the cathedral city for a long time.

One can only hope for one thing now: Afro Vibes must continue as an annual highlight in the Lindenkeller - with lots of reggae, ska and people dancing, smiling and just being happy.
