The A22 Brenner motorway is closed as a precaution between VeronaNord
(and the junctions with the A4 Milan-Venice) and
Modena and the junctions for the A1,
due to thick fog.
The closure, which began at 7.30am and was decided for the third consecutive day, derives from the limited visibility of 20 metres, to prevent the repetition of accidents which already occurred on Friday and Saturday.
From 6.46am the road section between the connection to the A4 Milan-Venice and the connection to the A1 was ordered to be closed on both carriageways, in the Modena area.
Yesterday and the day before yesterday, a similar measure was adopted due to the fog banks that appeared in the area.
And which had led to accidents.
The entrance junction to Carpi station has been closed on both carriageways since shortly after 7am, again due to poor visibility;
the entrance junction of the Reggiolo/Rolo station on both carriageways and the entrance junction of the Campogalliano station on both carriageways.
From what has been learned, the closure from 6.46am of the A22 in the section between the connection with the A4 and the connection with the A1 was necessary due to the extraordinary visibility conditions, for long stretches less than 20 metres, produced by the thick fog descended during the night.
For this Brenner Motorway, the management company of the A22 has decided, in agreement with the Traffic Police, to close the affected section as a precaution.
The A22 will reopen entirely as soon as visibility conditions allow.
