The taste for elegance and beautiful finishes is not in itself new at Baltic.
But this new Prismic collection with four models nevertheless marks a shift for the brand: alongside watches with a classically inspired design (HMS, Aquascaphe, Tricompax, Bicompax, Hermetic or MR01), these new products this time draw their inspiration from the he aesthetic of so-called “cocktail” watches, beautiful and elegant, to be worn in society.
A style here reinvented in a contemporary way, which was once all the rage in the major watchmaking houses in the 1950s and 1960s. These new Prismics, wisely colored (gray blue, green, purple, salmon, etc.) revive the memory with chic and elegance.
Their launch fell, coincidentally, on the birthday of Etienne Malec, co-founder of Baltic…

Resolutely in tune with the times, they are, right in the trend for smaller watches, with a case of only 36 mm, able to alternate finishes with its five distinct pieces, between bezel, horns and back of box.
Bezel, lugs and case back are made of stainless steel and are part of a slightly grained Grade 5 titanium caseband.
The polished upper part of the bezel contrasts with the circularly brushed lower part.
The horns are polished on the top and brushed horizontally on the sides.

But it is undoubtedly the face of the watch, the dial, which is the most impressive.
The brand's designers wanted to demonstrate their taste for sophisticated finishes, with a guilloché background on which rests a brushed sector and its polished appliques.
At 6 o'clock, a seconds sub-counter with a grained background is framed by a brushed steel ring.
Finally, the dauphine hands feature a brushed top surface and polished chamfers.
Parts assembled in France.
Le Figaro
The finesse of these watches, all assembled in France, is explained by the Swiss made movement chosen: a Peseux caliber 7001, a mechanical movement with manual winding developed by the Swiss manufacturer ETA.
Ultra-thin, it offers 42 hours of power reserve, and has been decorated to be seen via the sapphire crystal on the case back (hence a water resistance of only 30 meters on these Baltic Prismics).
With this mechanical movement measuring only 2.5 mm thick, the watch has a remarkably thin profile of 9.2 mm.

These Prismics are notably offered with a braided and brushed stainless steel bracelet (€1,260) or on a leather strap (€1,188), both easily interchangeable.
