The magazine Wirtschaftswoche has also created a Germany-wide city ranking for 2023.
The Free State in particular is doing very well.
Munich – Taking a wide range of factors into account, Wirtschaftswoche magazine has once again created a nationwide city ranking.
Indicators such as life expectancy, crimes, job provision and daycare rates played a role.
In the end, Bavaria in particular had something to be happy about - because five cities from the Free State ended up in the final top 10 of the 2023 city rankings.
Germany-wide ranking: Five cities from Bavaria in the top 10
Wirtschaftswoche's 2023 city ranking includes cities from all over Germany that have at least 100,000 inhabitants.
When creating the ranking, 71 German cities competed against each other in a total of 89 different disciplines, spread over four differently rated categories, explains Wirtschaftswoche.
Data from IW Consult, ImmobilienScout24 and WirtschaftsWoche itself were used.

Controversial first place?
Munich is once again in the top spot – but the indicator is likely to make you shake your head
Munich was able to successfully defend its place in the sun - in 2022, the Bavarian capital also landed in first place.
Munich was able to convince in many indicators that Wirtschaftswoche evaluated.
Also with the “apartment rent” indicator.
Munich is in first place there – with a rent per square meter of 19.2 euros.
In second place, far behind, is Frankfurt with 13.6 euros.
Immobilienscout24 provided this data.
But why is Munich in first place with the most expensive rental price?

For Wirtschaftswoche, this speaks for a strong real estate market that can look forward to high demand.
However, one or two long-suffering apartment hunters in Munich may have a different opinion as to whether the expensive rent in the state capital is an advantage.
Munich doesn't seem to be particularly convincing in the sustainability ranking either - here the city misses the top 10.
On the other hand, Munich continues to impress with its high quality of life, economic strength, location and security.
The other Bavarian cities in the top 10 also achieved very good results in all categories.
Ingolstadt, for example, takes second place in the sustainability ranking.
