This is the anxiety of motorists: seeing a scooter appear in front of their hood.

This is what happened Saturday evening, in Bois-le-Roi, rue Guido Sigriste.

It was around 11:15 p.m. when a Volkswagen collided with an electric scooter.

The 27-year-old young woman who piloted it was not wearing a helmet.

She was seriously injured in the head, face and stomach.

The victim, whose vital prognosis was in jeopardy, was transported by helicopter to the Kremlin-Bicêtre hospital (Val-de-Marne).

The investigation was entrusted to the Fontainebleau police station, which will have to determine the responsibilities of each person in the accident.

According to initial investigations, the scooter – which was arriving from an unlit area – did not stop at a stop sign.

Alcohol and drug tests were negative, both for the driver of the car and for the pilot of the machine.

On August 30, 2023, a collision involving a Peugeot 308 and an electric scooter resulted in the death of the little girl who was riding it.

The tragedy occurred on Boulevard des Grands-Fossés, in Chessy.

The schoolgirl, aged 12, was on a protected passage.

Again, the victim was not wearing a helmet.

The first findings suggested that the pedestrian light was red for her and that the motorist's light was green.

At the time, the legal age for riding an electric scooter was 12 years old.

On September 1, 2023, the date of publication of the decree in the Official Journal, it was raised to 14 years.

If users of these machines are vulnerable to cars, they sometimes cause serious collisions to the detriment of pedestrians.

On May 10, 2023, in Vaires-sur-Marne, a 25-year-old jogger was in fact violently hit from behind by an electric scooter.

Today, the young man – hit in the neck and thrown several meters – is seriously disabled.

On January 31, the Meaux criminal court sentenced the pilot of the machine – who was under drugs – to five years in prison, including 30 months, with a committal warrant.

Witnesses estimated that his scooter was traveling at a “crazy speed”, perhaps 50 km/h, on this driveway closed to traffic.
