At prime time on Easter Sunday, ZDF shows “The Dream Ship”, but what does the rest of the holiday program look like?

The choice of channel could trigger criticism.

Mainz - On public holidays, TV stations don't show the usual television program: people like to look for successful blockbusters or classics in order to win the ratings battles.

The broadcasters have also changed their programming for the coming Easter days - and it is noticeable that ZDF wants to show a cult film series that other broadcasters, such as ARD, have avoided.

ZDF is hoping for successful Easter ratings with “Winnetou”.

ZDF continues to celebrate ratings success with “Bergdoktor”: the public broadcaster still uses a different program plan for the holidays.

A few classics will be shown, although they have repeatedly caused criticism in the past.

We are talking about the “Winnetou” series, which is still very popular today.

There have been repeated allegations of cultural appropriation and racism regarding the films in the recent past.

ARD no longer shows the Karl May film adaptations, but ZDF does and hopes to be able to assert itself in the ratings battle on Easter days.

Planned ZDF “dream ship” goals for 2024

ZDF reveals that four “Dream Ship” episodes will be filmed by summer 2024.

The planned destinations are Argentina, Curaçao, Miami and Hudson Valley.

ZDF is showing all three “Winnetou” films at Easter

The broadcast is scheduled to begin with “Winnetou Part 1” on Good Friday (March 29, 2024) at 11:30 a.m.

Two days later, on Easter Sunday (March 31, 2024), ZDF will broadcast the second film at 10:15 a.m. and the final part will be broadcast on Easter Monday (April 1, 2024) at 11:00 a.m.
