It was possibly the largest demonstration that has ever taken place in Murnau: around 2,000 citizens took part in a rally against right-wing extremism on Ödön-von-Horváth-Platz on Sunday afternoon.

The motto was “No more is now!”

– Democracy needs no alternative!”.

Murnau

- The cabaret artist Christian Springer performed at the culture and conference center ten days ago.

There he learned that a demonstration against right-wing extremism was planned in Murnau.

He said to himself, “I’m coming.”

So Springer was the surprise guest yesterday afternoon at Ödön-von-Horváth-Platz, where the Werdenfels Alliance against Right-Wing Extremism was organized under the motto “No more is now!”

– Democracy needs no alternative!” organized a rally.

According to the police and organizers, around 2,000 people came.

The surprise guest is the cabaret artist Christian Springer.

Springer is known for not mincing words.

The cabaret artist gave a fiery speech, emphasizing, among other things: “In the history of the world, no state has ever perished because it took reasonable care of those in need and its refugees.” Unfortunately, “we have now reached the point where even politicians from the so-called center, that politicians, including those in the government, repeatedly encourage what the right-wing stands for.

This is a mess for everyone else and this country.”

He held up a mirror to the AfD: “The crime rate among AfD representatives in Germany is almost 20 percent.” This makes the party “more than twice as criminal as all refugees in this country.”

Springer advocated being honest with young adults.

You have to tell them: “Protecting democracy is necessary, but don't tell them that democracy is great, democracy is not sexy, it doesn't come in a skimpy miniskirt.” And further: “Tell the truth: democracy is weak.

It takes a long time.” It’s not satisfactory, but it’s the best there is.

“We have to model it for the children, not tomorrow, but now.”

Springer also remembered a “wonderful fellow fighter, da guade, oide Gustl Bayrhammer”, known as the actor of Master Eder.

In 1992, when asylum seekers' homes burned in Germany and people died, Bayrhammer said privately: “My fear that all this brown shit will come back, prepared by current so-called democrats.

Resist the beginnings."

Beuting: “Unique image”

Not only Springer, but also Mayor Rolf Beuting (ÖDP/Citizens' Forum) was enthusiastic about the crowd.

“This is a unique picture that has probably never existed before.” Beuting classified this as a “great sign”.

The head of the town hall complained about the “stupidity that is currently spreading in our country”.

This threatens “our prosperity and our freedom”.

The mayor made it clear: “We represent and protect fellow citizens with foreign roots, Jewish fellow citizens and all those whose supposed difference the right-wing extremists cannot tolerate.” Beuting’s conclusion: “Let’s act before it’s too late.”

The Protestant pastor Andreas Fach also took the floor.

He warned: “If we argue as democrats, then that is a breeding ground for extremists.” The clergyman advocated listening to and getting to know one another.

Jonathan Süßenbach (Fridays For Future) called for a ban on the AfD.

“This gives us time for the civil society anti-fascist struggle.” This also means “time for all bourgeois parties to free themselves from their political failure.”

Mduduzi Khumalo from Plusxkollektiv from Munich called on those present to chant “All together against fascism” or “All together against racism”, which many participants then did.

Thomas Wagner, who is a member of the interim board of the Werdenfels Alliance, made it clear at the beginning what the consequences would be if “remigration” plans by right-wing extremists were implemented.

“That would mean failures throughout the economy.”

According to Murnau police chief Joachim Loy, there were no special incidents.

The event was “completely trouble-free”.

Another demo is scheduled to take place on Sunday, March 3rd, at 2 p.m. in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
