The teaching unions only think
“badly” of
it , the level groups will nevertheless be established in college, confirmed Nicole Belloubet, new Minister of Education to BFMTV on Sunday February 18.
The reform promised by his predecessor Gabriel Attal should come into force at the start of the school year.
Instead of expecting their students to progress at the same pace, which is rarely achieved, 6th and 5th grade French and mathematics teachers will have to distinguish three groups in their class.
Logic would dictate that one is made up of the
“good”
, the other of the
“average”
, the third of the
“bad”
.
But on BFMTV, Nicole Belloubet was careful when discussing the distribution criteria.
Knowing that, according to several studies carried out, the weakest students are also the poorest and that opponents of the project fear this double "
stigma
", she said she refused to carry out a
"social sorting"
.
“Bringing is what makes our nation (...) it’s also what makes our school.”
For her, this “social sorting” will be avoided since from one subject to another, students will not necessarily be placed in the same group.
You can shine in math and struggle in French.
And, insisted Nicole Belloubet, in disciplines other than these two
“fundamental knowledge”
, the classes will remain
“heterogeneous”
.
The minister also assured our colleagues that the recruitment of 2,000 teachers, including many contract workers, necessary for the implementation of the reform, was underway.
