The groundbreaking ceremony marks the beginning of the first construction phase of the overall project.

A second construction phase includes the construction of an intersection-free cycle path between the new bridge and Reutte.

The Seespitz Bridge is scheduled to be completed in July 2024, laying the foundation for an improved and sustainable future for the region.

Reutte - With the official groundbreaking ceremony on February 6, 2024, a decisive step was taken to strengthen the regional infrastructure and promote tourism in the Reutte nature park region.

This first construction phase of the overall “Reutte – Plansee cycle path connection” project promises a seamless and safe passage for cyclists and pedestrians.

Innovative construction meets sustainability

The new construction of the Seespitz Bridge on Plansee, a central element of the “Reutte – Plansee cycle path connection” project, is not just a bridge;

it symbolizes a commitment to the future of mobility and tourism in the region.

With a total investment of around 1.5 million euros, an infrastructural improvement will be realized that meets both aesthetic and functional needs.

The bridge is designed as a reinforced concrete composite structure, consisting of two heavy welded beams and a concrete slab, supplemented by an attached wooden canopy roof.

The front sides of the roof and the visible parts of the concrete and steel structure are clad in larch wood, while the load-bearing steel beams receive a special coating to ensure their longevity.

With a span of 31 meters and a corresponding headroom, the construction will enable unhindered passage for water rescue operations in the future.

The new bridge therefore fits seamlessly into the surrounding landscape.

The significance of the new building – a project of strategic relevance

The new construction of the Seespitz Bridge became necessary due to the state of construction and the increased requirements for a safe and barrier-free transport infrastructure.

“The new bridge takes into account the increasing frequency of cyclists and hikers in this area and is a sustainable investment that will extend far into the future,” explains Markus Rudigier, asset manager for the municipality of Breitenwang.

By taking into account aspects such as enabling passage for water rescue, it becomes clear that when planning the bridge, not only current but also future requirements were taken into account.

The bridge is not only an infrastructural improvement, but also a tourist highlight.

“This project underlines the importance of Lake Plansee as an attractive destination for those seeking relaxation and sports enthusiasts.

It not only improves accessibility, but also the quality of the overall experience,” emphasizes Hermann Ruepp, chairman of the Reutte Nature Park Region Tourism Association.

Electricity works Reutte AG, which has taken over project management, sees the construction of the Seespitz Bridge as a strategically important project.

“Our participation in this project underlines the commitment of the Reutte electricity works to the development of the region.

We are proud to be able to make a contribution to improving the local infrastructure and promoting sustainable tourism,” explains DI (FH) Sebastian Freier, board member of Elektrowerke Reutte AG.

View of the second construction phase

The groundbreaking ceremony for the Seespitz Bridge marks the beginning of the first construction phase of the overall “Reutte – Plansee cycle path connection” project.

The second construction phase includes the construction of an approximately four kilometer long cycle path, which will create a safe and attractive connection between the new bridge and Reutte.

“The planning of an intersection-free cycle path shows our commitment to ensuring a safe and pleasant route for all users,” adds Markus Rudigier.

With the successful groundbreaking and the presentation of the project by the partners involved, a significant step was taken to strengthen regional mobility and promote tourism in the Reutte nature park region.
