But this time the ZDF home series had strong competition: the 19th season of “Germany's Next Top Model” with juror and supermodel Heidi Klum (50) was shown on the private channel ProSieben.

After the ZDF “Bergdoktor” was canceled due to carnival reasons on February 8, 2024, there was great anticipation for a new episode of the medical series.

And yet: “The Bergdoktor” impresses with excellent ratings, as a total of 5.21 million viewers tuned in among the total audience (ages three and up).
ZDF gained a market share of 19.6 percent during prime time, leaving its rival broadcaster ProSieben far behind.
GNTM was only able to reach a total audience of 2.04 million people and achieved a market share of 8.7 percent.
Theme song from “Germany’s Next Top Model”
For the new GNTM season, model Heidi Klum went into the recording studio for the third time and produced the song “Sunglasses at Night” together with DJ Tiësto (55).
The song serves, among other things, as the theme song for this year's “Germany's Next Top Model” season.
“Germany's Next Top Model”: Ratings winner in the young target group
But when it comes to the relevant target group, things look a little different: GNTM took first place by a long way.
In the target group (14 to 49 year olds), 1.22 million viewers tuned in and the station captured a full 23.3 percent of the market share.
Hans Sigl and “Der Bergdoktor” only attracted 0.38 million viewers (reach 6.5 percent).

As of this year, men are also allowed to take part in Heidi Klum's “Germany's Next Top Model” for the first time.
No wonder that a large part of the young audience tuned in to ProSieben and watched the innovation in the casting show.
